Historic Locations in

Visits to any of Indiana’s historic sites could increase students’ knowledge of the State’s past and build team spirit. Students should, however, research both the history of each site before they visit and remember that only the assigned texts are acceptable sources for contest questions and answers. In spite of information given by displays or docents at any historical site, students should rely only on the approved sources when preparing for the contest. All of the sites are within Indiana except for the location of the Battle of the Wabash which is just a few miles east of the State Line in Fort Recovery, Ohio. Coaches should contact officials at the historic sites as they plan field trips. Some of the sites are open by appointment only after October. Coaches might want to mention to site employees that the students have an advanced knowledge of Indiana history and the site’s importance.
