We also work with many Tier 1 suppliers, who are working with manufacturers to produce the next generation materials and technologies for low carbon vehicles. Rather than focusing on creating hype or spin, we pride ourselves on dedication to communicating accurate and worthy messages on behalf of our clients. For clients working in

2 the low carbon vehicle sector, we know it is critical to explain how and why their solutions work and to create a culture of clear, useful and truthful information. Our previous and current clients directly involved in low carbon vehicles include Tesla, which manufactures an all-electric sports car; , which has produced an all-; Bosch, which produces stop-start and micro hybrid systems; Corus, Connaught Engineering, GreenChem, Axeon and Valence Technology. We are continually approaching companies operating in the low carbon vehicle sector, offering our services in assisting them in communicating their activities including in North America and China, where we have Automotive PR representatives. The views of Automotive PR and its staff are expressed through our regularly updated blog. Read by our clients, as well as figures across the industry, our blogs includes pieces on the importance of alternative fuels, energy and improving air quality; as well as the benefits of carbon offsetting and critiques of government policy. We have also addressed the advantages of smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicles including electric cars and have encouraged the use of car clubs, one of which Automotive PR is a member. Our company newsletter is circulated to around 500 clients, journalists and industry contacts, and the most recent issue talked about our commitment to pursue a green strategy. Whilst we are always careful to minimise our carbon footprint wherever possible, the most recent development is that we are investigating the benefits of using a government-approved offsetting scheme.

Annual membership contribution - Paying a membership subscription

Working Groups - Innovation

3 Connaught Engineering's HYBRID+ System is the world's first commercially available retro fit hybrid system that provides fleet users with a cost effective way to reduce carbon emissions and fuel usage whilst retaining the operational performance of their fleet. Tested in a government approved emissions facility at Millbrook, in Bedfordshire, the HYBRID+ system reduced the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions on a Ford Transit nearly 25% in the T2 City Drive Cycle. HYBRID+ uses regenerative braking/declaration to charge super capacitors, and this stored energy is then used to assist the diesel engine during acceleration. This system uses well proven components in an innovative and patented manner so that all light commercial vans can cut their exhaust emissions by up to 25%. The system is now available for RWD Ford Transit; systems for FWD Transits; Mercedes Sprinters and VW Crafters will be available for trial orders in 12-14 weeks. For further details please contact Geoff Matthews or Bob Austin.

Ecomotion PR has been formed by the founders of PFPR Communications, which has been the premier UK-based specialist automotive PR agency for the last five years. It is clear that significant change is required to reduce carbon levels in the future and so we decided to launch a PR agency dedicated to the promotion of such technologies. During the last year, we have worked with vehicle manufacturers on EV and low carbon projects in the UK and Europe. We have worked with Norwegian manufacturer, Think, and have also managed the promotion of Chrysler's EV project, staging test drives for international media at this year's Geneva Motor Show. We are also planning a similar exercise for them at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. We also work as consultants to Mitsubishi Europe, on their MiEV project and we are assisting Kia Europe on low carbon projects. We have assisted ScootElectric and we represent infrastructure provider Elektromotive, which produces EV charging points. As the agency selected by the SMMT to manage PR for the 2008 British Motor Show, our responsibilities included managing PR for the specialist section for EV vehicles, The Green Pavilion. Our EV and infrastructure clients are now transferring from PFPR to our Ecomotion business, which is dedicated to building awareness, understanding and appreciation of electric vehicles. As a member of LowCVP we would use our media skills and relationships to fully support and promote the principles and work of the Partnership. We would willingly offer our services, free of charge, to assist in promotion of the Partnership to the media.

Annual membership contribution - Contributing through the collective contribution of SMMT members

Working Groups - Passenger Cars

Fiat might not be the first name to spring to mind when most people think about cars and the environment - we don't shout about our environmental credentials and we don't focus on special 'eco-iconic' vehicles. We continue to focus on creating ever more efficient vehicles, as we have been doing throughout our history, and are proud to have the lowest average CO2 emissions of any major car manufacturer in Europe for last two years running. But CO2 isn't the only thing we're concerned about. As well as having CO2 emissions of 110g/km, the new Fiat 500 - the 2008 European Car of the Year - is the first car on the market to meet the

6 Euro5 emission limits (on nitrogen oxide, particulates and hydrocarbons); two years before they take effect.
