His screen writing was very well appreciated by everyone and this made him successful in a very less time. He then continued writing for other shows like New Adventures. The makers of the show pulped all his writings and he was left with nothing. He entered the darkest phase of his life after that incident and has described it in his novel ‘Dark Knight’. Ben was so much in despair and disappointment that he had to work as a bookseller for ‘Waterstones’ in order to support his writing habit. During his struggling time, many writers’ works got shelved and this gave Ben Aaronovitch a light of hope. He began writing books and novels by rejoicing each and every word that would come to his mind. He used to thrive only on Japanese fast food and a cup of instant coffee as he was busy writing for his glory. This epic journey lead him to his best masterpiece ‘Rivers of London’ or the ‘Midnight Riot’. This series became a huge hit and was very much liked by each and everyone. The plot of the novel revolves around the life of Peter Grant, who is a young and dynamic officer in the Metropolitan Police. As Peter is the first to become an English apprentice wizard in more than fifty years, he is expected to solve the cases quickly. The second case consists of a fight between the warring Gods of the River Thames. Peter is expected to bring peace among the two Gods as soon a possible. He is assisted by officer Lesley May in these cases. Peter eventually solves the cases with his wit and determination and succeeds in keeping the faith of the people in the police department. The novel was very well received by the critics and became widely popular all over the world. It also earned Ben Aaronovitch, a Galaxy National Book Awards nomination in the New Writer if the Year award. Ben was praised a lot for his work and other noted writers also appreciated his efforts. People found it very thrilling and exciting. The novel was translated into a number of languages worldwide and an audio recording was also made. The audio recording was very well received too, and was shortlisted for the Crimfest Award in the year 2012. The sequel to the novel was released in the month of April, 2011 and was titled ‘Moon over Soho’. It was also released through ‘Gollancz’ and became successful too. This novel revolves around the brutal murder of a journalist in the Soho district of London. Police Constable Peter Grant is called to investigate the case of the journalist’s murder, whose body is found in the toilet of the Groucho Club in the Soho district. But, Peter is even more disturbed by the serial killings of amateur musicians soon after their jazz performances. The killings are made to look like natural deaths, but Peter finds a kind of magical signature on every dead body which forces him to believe that they were not natural deaths. Peter eventually finds the cause of the deaths and solves the cases after several turns of events. This novel was also very well received and praised by one and all. The reviewers praised the humorous segments and the thrilling plot of the novel. The popularity and success of the novel motivated Ben to write more novels and he stills maintains his habit.
