School Direct is available for those who are recent graduates and for those wishing to enter the profession following employment. These placements will be in partnership with Reading University to provide Initial Teacher Training and School Direct for the majority of subjects. Slough and Eton is an associate member of the Wokingham Federation School Direct Consortium and applications will be processed through this group for our placements. Professional Training at Slough and Eton The school is an experienced provider of high quality Initial Teacher Training and is pleased to include the School Direct PGCE qualification within our career entry opportunities. The school provides each individual on the PGCE programme with a dedicated mentor who has protected time to fulfil their training responsibilities. The school also offers a full, in house, professional studies programme to complement the university course. Leading professionals and representatives from support agencies contribute to this lively and enriching training experience. School Direct Subject Placements (September 2019 to June 2020) • Art • Biology • Business Studies • Chemistry • Computing • D&T • Drama • English SSAT • Geography • History • Maths • MFL (French) • Music • PE • Physics • RE The trainee pays a fee from which the costs of both the School and the University must be drawn. The trainee may be eligible for substantial bursary funding for some subjects. The trainee is not an employee of the school and would only be expected to attend both institutions as part of his or her training. The Award would be QTS from the DfE and PGCE from Reading University.
