INSTITUTION PROFILE

Government College Bhainsdehi is situated on a hill in Nawapur village of Bhainsdehi tehsil in of Madhya Pradesh, . Bhainsdehi tehisl is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges of Satpura. Bhainsdehi holds the prestigious position of being the originating place of holy river Purna. Predominantly a tribal tehsil, it has many tourist places like Muktagiri, Dharul, Kukru. Kukru is the 2nd highest point of Mahadeo hills of .

Bhainsdehi is located at 21.65°N 77.63°E. It has an average elevation of 741 metres (2431 feet). Bhainsdehi Tehsil of Betul district has a total population of 289,295 as per the census 2011. Out of which 146,143 are males while 143,152 are females. In 2011 there were total 58,726 families residing in Bhainsdehi Tehsil. The average sex ration of Bhainsdehi Tehsil is 980. As per Census 2011 out of total population, 4.1 % people lives in urban areas while 95.9% lives in the rural areas. Literacy rate of Bhainsdehi city is 83.48 % higher than state average of 69.32 %. In Bhainsdehi, male literacy is around 88.53 % while female literacy rate is 78.21 %.

Established in the year 1982-83, the college started its journey in three rooms provided by Govt. Higher Secondary School Bhainsdehi with a Bachelor in Arts course with 42 students. Bachelor of Commerce was started in the year 1987. In the year 2010-11 college was shifted in its own building. Bachelor of Science and PG in four subjects started in the year 2012-13. At present the college is affiliated with Barkatullah University Bhoapl (MP).

A Janbhagidari Samiti was constituted in the year 1997 to generate funds and to speed up the development of the institute on local level. Our institutional milieu exudes co- existence of cultural homogeneity, fraternity and communal harmony and also enjoys a healthy academic environment and actively partakes in extension work spanning over community development.

College has its own two stories building having one hall, 12 classrooms, 5 laboratory, one library with soul software, 02 smart classes, one computer lab, one small gym, a volley ball ground, a badminton court inside the building, cycle stand for parking and CCTV Surveillance around administrative wing.

The college is committed to the effective and optimum use of its available infrastructure but then again considering the admission graph that exhibits a steady increase in the number of students, the college today needs to strengthen its infrastructure and increase its qualified teaching staff.

Established in the year 1982-83, the Government College Bhainsdehi started its journey in three rooms provided by Govt. Higher Secondary School Bhainsdehi with a

Bachelor in Arts course with 42 students. Bachelor of Commerce was started in the year 1987. In the year 2010-11 college was shifted in its own building. Bachelor of Science and

PG in four subjects started in the year 2012-13.

A Janbhagidari Samiti was constituted in the year 1997 to generate funds and to speed up the development of the institute on local level. The college was affiliated to Dr. Hari Singh Gour University Sagar later on shifted to Barkatullah University Bhoapl (MP).

Infrastructure facility available to students are 12 classrooms, 5 laboratories (botany, chemistry, physics, zoology and home science), two smart classroom, cycle

stand, girls common room, play ground for volley ball and badminton, table tennis and

carom room, gymnasium room, 2 drinking water coolers with water purifiers, one

generator for backup, separate toilets for girls and boys and a ramp to physically challenged students are available in the college.

 Library as a learning resource- advisory committee, its composition, facilities & services (e & print), annual improvement initiatives

Although there is no separate library building exists in the college. Library runs

in two halls of 25 by 25 ft. There are more than 7000 books, including text books,

reference books and journals. Several magazines and news papers are subscribed in the library. Construction of new library is proposed in the near future. Photo copy facility and facilities for scanning, printing are available in the library.

Student support services :-  IT enabled services

10 computers with 02 printers are available for the students in the college. Most

of the office work is done on line on computers like admissions, fees, examination

application etc.

 A Grievance Redressal cell exists in the college which monitors the grievances of staff and students.
