Although the national IMD 2007 results are published at a small geographical level (Super Output Areas), aggregated together they can be used to obtain a ward average score for multiple deprivation. The IMD 2007 combines a number of indicators, chosen to cover a range of economic, social and housing issues into a deprivation score. The Linacre and Derby Wards are the most deprived and second most deprived Wards within Sefton respectively. Therefore the combined Committee average deprivation score highlights that Linacre and Derby suffers from extremely high levels of multiple deprivation, these results are confirmed by the previous worklessness and healthy life expectancy statistics.
