St Peter’s Church, Formby Review of the Ten Commonwealth War Graves in the Graveyard Prepared to mark the VE Day Celebrations 08-10 May 2020 Introduction This review has been prepared to commemorate the ten graves in the graveyard that meet the published criteria of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) which honours the 1.7 million men and women who died in the armed forces of the British Empire during the First and Second World Wars, and ensures they will never be forgotten. The CWGC work began with building, and now maintaining, cemeteries and memorials at 23,000 locations in more than 150 countries and territories and managing the official casualty database archives for their member nations. The CWGC core principles, articulated in their Royal Charter in 1917, are as relevant now as they were over a hundred years ago: • Each of the Commonwealth dead should be commemorated by name on a headstone or memorial • Headstones and memorials should be permanent • Headstones should be uniform • There should be equality of treatment for the war dead irrespective of rank or religion. CWGC are responsible for the commemoration of: • Personnel who died between 04 August 1914 and 31 August 1921; and between 03 September 1939 and 31 December 1947 whilst serving in a Commonwealth military force or specified auxiliary organisation. • Personnel who died between 04 August 1914 and 31 August 1921; and between 03 September 1939 and 31 December 1947 after they were discharged from a Commonwealth military force, if their death was caused by their wartime service. • Commonwealth civilians who died between 03 September 1939 and 31 December 1947 as a consequence of enemy action, Allied weapons of war or whilst in an enemy prison camp. -

BOUNDARY COMMISSION for ENGLAND PROCEEDINGS at The
BOUNDARY COMMISSION FOR ENGLAND PROCEEDINGS at the 2018 REVIEW OF PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCIES IN ENGLAND HELD AT THE COTTON EXCHANGE BUILDING, OLD HALL STREET, LIVERPOOL, L3 9JR ON FRIDAY 21 OCTOBER 2016 DAY TWO Before: Mr Neil Ward, The Lead Assistant Commissioner ______________________________ Transcribed from audio by W B Gurney & Sons LLP 83 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 0HW Telephone Number: 0203 585 4721/22 ______________________________ At 9.00 am: THE LEAD ASSISTANT COMMISSIONER: Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for joining us today. My name is Neil Ward. I am the Lead Assistant Commissioner appointed by the Boundary Commission to conduct two things: To conduct the hearings across the whole of the North West into their Initial Proposals for the revised parliamentary boundaries for the North West region and, along with two fellow assistant Commissioners, Nicholas Elliott and Graeme Clarke, to take on board all the representations that are either made in the hearings or in written representations and to consider, in the light of them, whether we think it is appropriate to recommend changes, revised proposals to the Boundary Commission on their Initial Proposals. I should say that I am, in a sense, essentially independent of the Boundary Commission. Although I am appointed by them, I had no hand in the drafting of the proposals and I received them the same time as everyone else and I am, in a sense, an honest broker in this process, considering whether or not changes ought to be made. This is the second day of the Liverpool hearing. Just a couple of words on process. -

Imagine Sefton 2030 Vision Consultation Report - August 2016 Forward by Cabinet Sponsors
Imagine Sefton 2030 Vision Consultation Report - August 2016 Forward by Cabinet Sponsors Sefton Council is leading on developing a new and exciting vision for the future of the Borough; focusing on what is important and to be bold and ambitious, so that Sefton is a place where we are all proud to live, where people want to spend time, where people can achieve and where businesses thrive and investors are drawn to. We have worked very closely with our partners, businesses, private sector organisations, the voluntary, community and faith sector and our local community to understand what you love about the area and how we can work together to deliver the ambitions expressed leading up to 2030 and beyond. It has been really important that we ask local people, visitors and people who work in the Borough what your Vision is for the Borough and the engagement we have carried out on the Vision built upon the work and the many conversations that have taken place with communities during the past few years. The extensive engagement that was carried out to help us with our understanding saw us engaging with over 3500 people of all ages from across the Borough, who visit the Borough and who have businesses here to provide us with a collective view on the areas that are important for the Borough for the future. The inclusive process included a development of a website and a Visioning Toolkit, Pop-up Community Roadshows, meetings, workshops, surveys, a comprehensive social media campaign and yes we even had answers on a postcard. -
