Emma Longard is a German recording artist and songwriter, who can be placed somewhere between pop, jazz and blue-eyed soul. After releasing her debut EP "Elle" Â in 2013 and the album "A Million Pieces" in 2015, she went on hiatus from the spotlight in 2017 after having played numerous support tours within Germany and burning the candle on both ends. Fast forward three years to today, Emma has learned a lot about herself, has grown and has developed a new and clear vision for her sound and message. Now her main focus is to use her music to spread some calm and love in times, where more and more people lose themselves in the loud and busy world on- and ofﬂine, like it happened to her. That's how the title and the songs of her new EP "Quieter Pt 1" came to be. Over the years, Emma has played countless live shows within Germany and also took the stage at festivals like Reeperbahn Festival and beyond the borders of her home country. Waves Vienna and MusExpo in Los Angeles have been a few of her destinations. While being signed to EMI Publishing/Sony ATV from 2010 to 2017, the creative process of writing and producing her debut record saw her travel to established colleagues in London, Paris, Oslo and LA. Emma sat in sessions with Sasha Skarbek (Miley Cyrus, Lana del Rey), Martin SjÃ¶lie (Sigrid, Maria Mena) and Jimmy Harry (Madonna, Pink), learning what it means to use the short time of a pop-song to the fullest. For her new material Emma is happy to have partnered with LA based label HRDRV, which follows an innovative, community based concept and gives full control to the artist. On the publishing side, Emma is delighted to have Sentric Music on her side, which is also a company that allows artists to have full insights into their copyright registrations. Since todays times don't make it easy for artists to publicly perform, Emma is looking to connect with her listeners through live videos, chats and streams. Besides providing new content as often as possible, a second EP is also in sight for summer 2021. It will be called "Quieter Pt 2". Dec 2020.

Mitt formål har vært å finne ut av, med hovedvekt på det visuelle, hvordan artistene iscenesetter seg selv i forhold til normer og forventninger til kjønn og seksualitet, og hvordan iscenesettelsene påvirkes av å befinne seg i konteksten populærmusikk, med særlig fokus på betydningen av sjangertilhørighet og autentisitet. Mitt overordnede teoretiske perspektiv er et poststrukturalistisk queerperspektiv, med forankring i Judith Butlers perspektiver på kjønn og seksualitet. Fordi kjønn og seksualitet i oppgaven blir forstått som i stor grad diskursivt konstruert, og fordi jeg vil undersøke kjønn og seksualitet i et kulturelt felt, drar jeg også nytte av perspektiver på diskurs, kultur og hegemoni. Fordi mye av materialet mitt er av visuell og ikke tekstlig art, er det nødvendig å finne frem til analytiske grep som gjør at jeg kan ”oversette” fotografiene til tekst. For å gjøre dette benytter jeg meg av en semiotisk tilnærming til fotografiene, i tillegg til Erving Goffmans studie Gender Advertisments (1979). Analysefokus ligger hovedsakelig på visuelle iscenesettelser, som analyseres gjennom artistenes albumcovre og pressefotografier, men også tekst i form av offentlig publiserte intervjuer og omtaler.

The sun was shining; nature seemed to have come out of a Mozart symphony, fresh and new. I could not be trapped at my desk any more, my legs started without any conscious impulses from my brain just to move my body away from the papers and the dictatorship of the computer and led me into the fresh air and I started running through the forest, alongside a river, up to the lake. Running, feeling the wind, the fresh air and the brilliant feeling of a new spring, I stopped to catch my breath, time to breathe. I filled my lungs. Do you know the smell of burnt grass? From a neighbour garden came the smell of burnt grass, and in a split of a second I was back to my childhood summers. My soul drifted away and my body relaxed, all my muscles at ease, my shoulders low, a smile starting to invade my face, eyes closed. All the good things of life came back to me and filled me all the way to the tips of my fingers. Safety, mildness, beauty. It was one of those moments Pip would have called Kiss of life. I had an encounter with myself, with my happy childhood. The smell of burnt grass gave it to me. I was running down the small hill and along the beautiful lake.

Supheert 7 December 2016 5,743 words 2 Abstract Despite previous research of English Language Teaching (ELT), gaps remain in the research of ELT textbooks. This study explores the extent to which the Stepping Stones series offers Dutch secondary school students English language diversity. Stepping Stones 2 VMBO bk and Stepping Stones 2 VWO, along with their supplemental audio material, were analyzed. Interviews with teachers who use the textbooks and an online survey of teachers’ initiatives for discussing linguistic diversity were conducted to broaden the scope of the analysis by providing insight into practical exposure to English diversity independent of the textbooks. The results indicated that while an effort is made in Stepping Stones to include linguistic diversity in both textbooks, it is more common in the pre-university (VWO) version, thus limiting the linguistic diversity awareness of pre-vocational (VMBO) students. This research concludes that while the Stepping Stones textbooks do not offer an equal amount of linguistic diversity between VMBO and VWO textbooks, the exposure of the students to the different varieties of World Englishes is provided by the teacher, often only at the request of the students. 3 Table of Contents Introduction ....................................................................................................................................

EUROPEAN COMMISSION PRESS RELEASE Brussels/Groningen, 15 January 2014 European Border Breakers Awards: Kodaline wins public choice award The winners of the 2014 European Border Breakers Awards ('the EBBA Awards'), highlighting the best new music acts in Europe which have achieved cross-border chart success, were honoured this evening at the Eurosonic Noorderslag festival in Groningen (Netherlands). The biggest winner of the night was Kodaline who scooped the public choice award, announced during the ceremony following an online vote to select the 'best of the best'. The Irish group, who performed live at the show, are currently on a world tour which takes in The Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Canada, the United States, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Australia in the next few months following the success of their debut album, In A Perfect World. The EBBAs award show also featured performances by some of the other 2014 winners (see also IP/13/931): GuGabriel (Austria), Lukas Graham (Denmark), Asgeir (Iceland), Jacco Gardner (Netherlands) and Nico & Vinz (Norway). Zedd (Germany), Icona Pop (Sweden) and Disclosure (UK) sent video messages. Former EBBA Award winner Caro Emerald (Netherlands) and Norwegian singer Maria Mena also performed at the show. Hosted by the British TV host and musician Jools Holland, the event was broadcast live via YouTube and will be screened on TV throughout Europe in the coming months. By using focus group as a research method that studies the everyday aspects of musical national identity, rather than using textual analysis to study the meaning embedded in the music per se, the relationship between national identity and music is illuminated by problematising the mundane, everyday encounters between Norwegian music and the Norwegians, and analysing the empirical data within the conceptualisation of several theoretical frameworks. The findings give us various thought-provoking perspectives to examine how the Norwegians identify their musical Norwegianness, and to inspire us to consider musical national identity as a site of complexity of the interplay of language, nation- building, musical behaviours and ideologies. Proposing a three-level model of identification and three flexible lenses to investigate musical national identity that stress the importance of language, locality and dialectical relationship between modernism and essentialism to conclude the results, this thesis aims to enlighten and broaden the current academic discussion on national musical identity.
