Tuesday, March 13th, 2018 Shentel Improves Network, Adds Services In Rural West Virginia Towns A recent significant upgrade in the network has enabled Shentel to bring new products and services to the towns of Marlinton and Grantsville, both in Shentel’s West Virginia service area. Customers in these rural areas, now have access to the highest Internet speed tier Shentel offers - 150Mbps. They will be able to experience truly fast high-speed Internet. Telecommuting and sharing large files is no longer an issue. Busy homes using multiple IP-driven devices won’t have to take turns. Tablets, laptops and desktops can share with speed to spare. In January 2017, Mediacom began offering ultra-fast 1-Gig Internet to all of the nearly 1 million households and businesses in the more than 300 Iowa communities passed by the company's fiber-rich digital network. In announcing the statewide rollout of these next generation services, Mediacom's founder and CEO, Rocco B. Commisso, noted that as a result of the company's private investment, "Iowa is not only Mediacom's first gigabit state, but now leads all U.S. states in gigabit broadband availability." The cybersecurity business service is available to current and prospective clients of Wave Business to protect networks from distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. Based on Arbor Networks technology, Wave's DDoS Mitigation service monitors all ingress points to the customer company's fiber-optic network in real time. The service is designed to identify and resolve dangerous or malicious traffic within seconds, and to provide customers updates on the resolution. Wave offers the service to clients as a subscription or on a per-event basis. Bob Udell, CEO of Consolidated Communications, told investors that despite a challenging pricing environment, the service provider continues to connect more wireless operator towers to its fiber network.
