Architects, artists, photographers and creative figures of international standing will be discussing their ideas and works, their working methods and their personal relationships with creativity and new technologies (MAXXI Auditorium, free admittance, Via Guido Reni 4/A). Massimiliano Fuksas (17 September), Luigi Ontani (22 September), Enzo Cucchi (13 October), Michelangelo Pistoletto (27 October), Giulio Cappellini (10 November), Olivo Barbieri (17 November), Francesco Vezzoli (24 November), Fernando and Humberto Campana (1 December), Moreno Cedroni (15 December) will be accompanying the public on this exploration of the diverse forms of creativity by way of exclusive materials and unusual forms of interaction that will make the web the privileged channel of contact with contemporaneity. The objective of the project is that of bringing the general public closer to the universe of the contemporary, proposing an informal and dynamic interpretative key to understanding in a straightforward, surprising and never banal way the trends in art and architecture, taking advantage of the most advanced technologies provided by Telecom Italia. Telecom Italia MAXXI Press Office Press Office +39 06 3688 2610 +39 06 3225178 http://www.telecomitalia.com/media [email protected] THE PROTAGONISTS: Saturday 17 September | Massimiliano Fuksas (Rome, 1944) One of the best known contemporary architects, Fuksas owes his fame to an extremely refined design talent that since the 1970s has allowed him to work on an international level. From 1998 to 2000 he was director of the “VII Venice International Exhibition of Architecture”: “Less Aesthetics, More Ethics”. His built works include: the Peres Peace House, Jaffa, Tel Aviv, Israel, 1999-2009; San Paolo Church, Foligno, Italy, 2001-2009; Armani Fifth Avenue, NYC, USA, 2007-2009; the Zenith Music Hall, Strasburg, France, 2003-2008; the New Milan Trade Fair Grounds, Italy, 2002-2005; the Ferrari Management and Research Centre, Maranello, Modena, Italia, 2001-2004; the Twin Towers, Vienna, Austria, 1995-2001. His current projects include: The new national archives at Pierrefitte sur Seine-Saint Denis, Paris, France, 2005-2012; the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport, Terminal 3, Shenzhen, China, 2008-2012/2015; the new EUR Conference Centre, Rome, Italy, 1998-2012. Thursday 22 September | Luigi Ontani (Grizzana Morandi, 1943) A versatile Italian artist known throughout the world for his "tableaux vivants", filmed and photographed performances in which Ontani is self-portrayed as figures from mythology, history and Italian literature. His work is distinguished by an untiring enthusiasm for experimentation that from the 1960s through to the present day has encouraged his heterogeneous use of artistic techniques such as sculpture, photography, performance and watercolours. Luigi Ontani has exhibited in the most important international museum including PS1 in New York, MAMBO in Bologna, the Venice Biennale and the Rome Quadriennale. Thursday 13 October | Enzo Cucchi (Morro d’Alba 1949) an Italian painter and sculptor, one of the principal exponents of Transavanguardia, an artistic movement defined in the early Eighties by Achille Bonito Oliva. Thanks to his technical experimentation, Cucchi is to be considered as one of the few masters of the new generation and, through his close relationships with poets and writers such as Paolo Volponi, Goffredo Parise, Giovvani Testori, Ruggero Guarini and Alberto Boatto, a significant point of reference for the world of illustrated literature. Enzo Cucchi has participated in group and solo shows in the most important Italian and international exhibition spaces such as the Kunsthalle in Basle, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and the Castello di Rivoli, appearing in the most significant international contemporary art reviews such as the Venice Biennale, Documenta in Kassel and the Quadriennale in Rome. Thursday 27 October | Michelangelo Pistoletto (Biella 1933) is an Italian artist, painter and sculptor, a protagonist of the Arte Povera movement defined and theorised by Germano Celant in the mid-Sixties between Rome and Turin. The Mirror paintings underlie his artistic production and theoretical constructs from 1962 and brought him to critical attention throughout the world. During the course of the 1990s with Progetto Arte and the creation in Biella of Cittadellarte-Fondazione Pistoletto and the University of Ideas, Pistoletto places art in an active relationship with the diverse ambits of the social fabric in order to inspire and produce a responsible transformation of society. In 2003 Michelangelo Pisoletto was awarded the Leone d’Oro for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale while in 2007 in Jerusalem he received the Wolf Foundation Prize in Arts “for his constantly inventive career as an artist, educator and activist whose restless intelligence has created prescient forms of art that contribute to fresh understanding of the world.” Thursday 10 November | Giulio Cappellini (Milan 1954). An architect and designer, in 1979 he joined Cappellini Spa, initially dealing with image and subsequently management. Giulio Cappellini personally controls the image and products of all the Cappellini brands, both as art director and, in some cases, as designer. Many Cappellini products are present in the permanent collection of the principal contemporary art museums. He also works with the opinion leaders on the drafting of various texts on the history of design. He was recently elected by Time magazine as one of the ten global trend setters in the world of fashion and design. Thursday 17 November Olivo Barbieri (Carpi 1954) An Italian photographer and artist, Barbieri’s fame is associated with a highly original representational technique that renders metropolitan landscapes as miniature cities. Ever attentive to the constructional mutations of contemporaneity and the relationship between reality and virtuality, he draws of the concept of the avatar, the physical representation of a subject within a virtual world: an entire city can be a representation of itself. OIivo Barbieri participated in the Venice Biennale in 1993, 1995 and 1997 and numerous international events devoted to the visual arts, exhibiting in major spaces such as the Folkwang Museum in Essen and MART in Rovereto. Thursday 24 November | Francesco Vezzoli (Brescia 1971) An Italian artist whose works, frequently true short films, investigate themes associated with high cinematic culture and trash television. His videos are tributes to the auteur film tradition from Stanley Kubrick to Luchino Visconti, from Roberto Rossellini to Pier Paolo Pasolini, and at times a reflection on popular culture, from reality shows to soap operas and through to hard movies. An irreverent icon of the international art scene, Vezzoli has exhibited in the world’s leading museums including Tate Modern in London, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Venice Biennale and MAXXI in Rome. Thursday 1 December | Fernando and Humberto Campana (Humberto Campana 1953, Rio Claro - Sao Paulo and Fernando Campana, 1961 Brotas - Sao Paulo) Among the most famous contemporary designers, the Campanas are known for their furniture derived from the use of waste materials such as cardboard, string, plastic tubes, leather and metal wire. As they say themselves: “our objects are born out of the street, out of the kitsch atmospheres of the popular quarters of the Brazilian cities and out of contact with nature.” Experimenting with a wide range of expressive media ranging from waste material found in the favelas to natural products from the Amazon forests, the Campana brothers give rise to brilliantly coloured objects suspended between innovation and tradition. Their works have been presented in important museum such as Palazzo Reale in Milan, the Museum of Modern Art in Bahia and the Museum of Modern Art in Tel Aviv. Thursday 15 December | Moreno Cedroni Moreno Cedroni is one of the most creative Italian and international chefs. Born in Ancona in 1964, Cedroni entered the catering field in 1984 with the opening of the Madoninnia del Pescatore restaurant in Senigallia. After directing the restaurant for six years and bored with front of house work, he decided to test himself in the kitchen, with cooking soon becoming his true great passion. In 1992 he was attending haute cuisine courses when he met Ferran Adrìà from whom he learned new techniques for preparing and decorating dishes. As well

  • Il Corpo Figurato
Matthew Antezzo Matthew Antezzo (Connecticut, USA, 1962) vive a lavora a Berlino.

It is the first monographic exhibition dedicated to the artist outside of France since 1965 and is the perfect opportunity to discover or rediscover France’s hidden master and to explore the dedication and proximity between a collector and an artist. Curated by Caroline Bourgeois in close collaboration with the artist, the exhibition brings together more than 300 works from 1958 to the present day - paintings, sculptures, videos and neon works - almost half of which have never been shown to the public (some are works in progress to be dis- played for the first time at Palazzo Grassi).
