Y11 CHRISTMAS PROJECT Every year practical engineering students get the chance to design and manufacture a Christmas ornament, such as a tree. However, this year our fantastic Year 11 group have worked hard to design a sleigh. They are using an aluminium sheet, box steel and a ping-pong table. The back compartment of the sleigh will be filled with essential donations for the local food banks, with the help of form groups and the public. Two lanterns will hang from the front and there will be an awesome seat for someone to sit in. The overall design process took two weeks, and the product is now finished and sat in reception.

VENDING MACHINE YES OR NO

So, by now I’m sure you’ve all seen the fabulous new vending machine, but the real question is, is it a smart way to avoid the queue or a money vacuum? Near to the exam hall entrance, the box of treats sells a variety of things you have likely seen. From Mars Bars to Pepsi. Is this too repetitive though? The school café sells exactly the same items, so do we really think this new vending machine is necessary?

However, the vending machine is an easy escape, if you’ve forgotten your lunch card or the queue is too long the vending machine allows you to use your credit card, so it’s an easy fix.

No matter the case, what is your opinion on it? We would love for some opinions for our next newspaper issue. Maybe a poll, maybe some strong opinions. Why not contribute?
