Saturday, 11 May Included in Cost: Basilica San Clemente Tour, Hoy Stairs Tour Coffee Break, Two Evening Transfers, Santa Sabina Tour & Reception, Santa Maria Sopra Minerva Dinner & Concert (D) 09:00 AM- Meet at the Basilica of San Clemente. Enjoy a special short prayer service with the Dominican community there, followed by a visit to the famous 3-layer excavations of the Basilica. 10:30 AM- Depart the Basilica San Clemente on foot for a visit to St John Lateran & the Holy Stairs. Inside the private garden of the Holy Stairs Shrine, we will enjoy a lovely coffee break. 12;30 PM- Lunch & afternoon on-you-own 16:30 PM- Vans depart Angelicum parking lot for transfer to the Basilica of Santa Sabina 17:00 PM- A brief visit, guided by the Dominican friars, to the Basilica & the room of St Dominic 18:00 PM- Enjoy an aperitivo in the convent with a welcome from the successor to St. Dominic, the Master of the Order of Preachers (toast) 18:45 PM- Transfer in vans to Piazza della Minerva (next to Pantheon) 19:15 PM- Gala Dinner with Evening Concert & Italian Compline inside the convent of the Minerva with the friars. 22:15 PM- Depart the convent at Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, and make your own way back to your hotels/lodging. Or stay in the area for a night-cap at a rooftop hotel. Sunday, 12 May Included in Cost: St Peter's Basilica Visit to Cupola, Brunch on Terrace of Residenza Paolo VI, Tour of catacombs, Tour of St Mary Major, One evening transfer, Closing Dinner (L, D) 07:15 AM- Meet at the Obelisk in St Peter's Basilica. Enter into the Basilica & enjoy quiet time on your own. 08:00 AM- Mass (in the crypts) 09:15 AM - Visit to St. Peter's Dome; there is time for a break for cappuccino & cornetto* & souvenir shopping on the roof of St Peter's Basilica ! 11:00 AM- Reconvene across the street at the entrance to the Paolo VI hotel. We will have brunch on the rooftop terrace, and enjoy the amazing view onto the Angelus blessing from the terrace. After brunch & Angelus, make your own way back to the hotel. 15:30 PM -Meet at the Catacombs of Santa Priscilla, enjoy a private visit to these amazing early Christian catacombs, complete with the earliest sacred image of Mary in the West ! 16:30 PM- Transit in private vans to the Basilica of Saint Mary Major. 17:00 PM- Visit the Basilica of Saint Mary Major 18:00 PM- After a guided visit of the basilica, enjoy an aperitivo & dinner on a rooftop terrace across the street. After dinner, make your own way back to your hotel/lodging. Montecassino, where St. Benedict established himself and founded the Benedictine Order. Destroyed in WWII and rebuilt. Three days in Rome: Roman forum, the Vatican, spectacular art (Vatican and the Borghese museum, etc.). Colleseum, Pantheon, Sistine Chapel, Bernini Sculpture, Boromini's Baroque San Carlo alle Quattro Fontane, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, ... Umbria: Orvieto for a pasta demo, great dinner at Ristorante Zeppelin. Hill town of Todi, expansive views of the landscape, me- dieval and Renaisance architecture.     INFORMATION FOR VISITORS TO ROME & THE ITALIAN CAMPUS Roma/ LAZIO, ITALIA The Duquesne in Rome is located in a neighborhood of Rome called “Boccea”. The campus is accessible via public transportation. The closest metro stops to campus are Battistini, Cornelia, and Valle Aurelia, the last three stops on Line A. The campus is about a 15-20 minute walk from Battistini. From Cornelia and Valle Aurelia it is possible to catch the 906 Bus which stops right in front of the campus (Le Suore della Sacra Famiglia di Nazareth, Via Nazareth, 400 - Boccea). Once you are on Via Nazareth you will want to hit the stop button on the bus when you see the Yellow Gas Station on your left. The very next stop will let you off just past the Duquesne in Rome walls. See map below.
