'Vetter's Letter Allentown Area Corvette Club, Inc. ‘Vetter’s Letter November 2010 Volume 17, Issue 11 President John Kostick, Jr. From the val Office 610-432-7172 [email protected] It’s hard to believe that another car season is nearly at a close. We have only one Vice-President more club‐supported show to go (“Corvettes for Chip”) and the 2010 season is John Shedlock over. I would like to thank Dave & 610-967-5484 Susan Hornung, Kevin & Michelle Secretary Minnich, and the many club volun‐ Carol Jenkins 610-317-9277 teers for a fantastic Fall show at the Sands. This was the most successful Treasurer Janet Mohring ”Fiberglass & Steel” show we have 610-965-8593 ever had — probably because it was NCCC Governor the first one that it didn't rain. It is Norb Szymanski good that the only thing we had to 610-691-3108 worry about was where to put the all Membership the cars. Marty & Laura Hegyi 610-730-2695 The club’s annual Holiday Party is coming up and hopefully I look forward to see‐ ing everyone at The Barnhouse Restaurant (Bath, PA) on Saturday, December 11, Events Jeff Mohring for a night of fun and friendship. 610-965-8593 Remember, we go down to only one meeting in November, December and Janu‐ NCM Ambassador ary, so be sure to mark your calendars. Let's get our ‘Vettes out for one last run Richard DeLeon 610-694-0772 before the cold weather sets in and I'll see you at the Corvettes for Chip Show. Thank you for Lehigh Valley helping to make this a successful event! Military Affairs Council Eleanor Reynard, Michelle & Kevin Minnich Another Season In The Books Corvette Racing concluded its first full season in the ultra‐competitive GT2 category with a victory in the 13th running of Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta on Oct. 2. Going into the final lap, the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R driven by Oliver Gavin was trailing Toni Vilander in the class‐leading No. 62 Risi Competizione Ferrari by 10 seconds. With a low‐fuel alarm flashing on his own instrument panel, Gavin watched incredulously as the Ferrari slowed on the back straight as it ran out of E85 fuel. Gavin then raced across the finish line 5.763 sec‐ onds ahead of the runner‐up No. 01 Ferrari of Dominick Farnbacher, which also passed Vilander's hapless Ferrari. The 2010 season was not like the previous storied seasons of this powerhouse team. The 2‐car team posted only one win and five podium finishes in the ten‐race season. The change in ALMS format to a single GT class is proving difficult, but Corvette Racing is ready for the challenge. Allentown Area Corvette Club Page 4 ‘Vetter’s Letter | Vol. 17, Iss. 11 | November 2010 Kerbeck’s 2010 Toys For Tots Saturday, Oct. 9 — Kerbeck Corvettes of Atlantic City hosted their annual Toys‐For‐ Tots Drive to benefit the USMC. A last minute change in the program eliminated the Farley Plaza meeting point and “speed run” to the baseball stadium, citing inade‐ quate parking for the 1,000 expected Corvettes. Instead, the participating drivers were asked to drive directly to the ballpark with their toy gifts. Kerbeck again provided food, drinks, door prize raffles, and entertainment for the participants. The last‐minute change in format resulted in a much‐reduced attendance. Only Bernie & Linda Blasko and Don & Helen Friga participated, although over a dozen AACC couples had pre‐ registered. Lou Gehrig’s disease, as it is commonly known, causes muscle weakness and atrophy throughout the body caused by degeneration of the upper and lower motor neurons. Unable to function, the muscles weaken and atrophy. Affected individuals may ultimately lose the ability to initiate and control all voluntary movement; bladder and the muscles responsible for eye movement are usually, but not always, spared. Cognitive function is generally spared for most patients. Those not participating in the 2‐mile walk proudly displayed their Corvettes outside the park.

This Price Guide, our 23rd, is one of many tools you can use to answer that question. Not every model in this guide makes it to auction every year, so in those few cases we’ve reached out to experts in private sales for our median price. In addition, we have our unique Investment Grade rating, changes from last year’s median price, and production numbers — data you won’t find in any other Price Guide.

Printed in the United States of America. Welcome to GSL-XXVI! Welcome to the Twenty-Sixth presentation of the GSL International Scale Vehicle Championship and Convention. You are part of the most prestigious scale vehicle competition in the hobby! The GSL Championship was created in 1979 to provide an encouraging, objective, and hospitable venue for sophisticated scale vehicle modelers (regardless of what style of model vehicles they build) to compete against other great builders where craftsmanship, technical innovation, and building skills would be recognized and rewarded. As a response to other historic contests where certain building styles were favored and others discouraged by the judging preferences and selection of winners, and as a further reaction against competitions where personalities and public favor played significantly in the outcome, the GSL Championship was created to provide for a “safe harbor” for competitive builders interested in aggressive, quality building. The GSL Championship has been, since 1979, a forum where excellence, craftsmanship, good humor and friendship have been sponsored and encouraged. Over the years, the widely-recognized judging impartiality and congenial atmo- sphere—hallmarks of the GSL Championship—have encouraged an ever-widening group of the best competitive scale vehicle builders to attend and be a part of the greatest scale vehicle competition ever created.
