LUKE “STRIKEOUT” ALBRIGHT: The Kent State product has been one of the top pitchers in the Northwoods League this season. He is 2-1 and carries a 1.71 ERA into his final start of the summer. Last Thursday in Willmar, Albright struck out 12 batters in five innings pitched, finishing one shy of tying the Rox single-game record. Two starts ago, he took a no-hit bid into the sixth inning at Rochester. He has 38 strikeouts on the season. HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE IS REAL: The Rox have been terrific at home in 2020. They haven’t lost since July 18th at the Rock Pile and have won 13 consecutive games. The Rox went on a six-game winning streak during its longest homestand of the season last week. St. Cloud is 17-2 at Joe Faber Field, but are just 8-10 when away from home. They return home tonight for the final game of the season. ROX VS STINGERS IN 2020: The Rox have won seven consecutive games against the Stingers, leading the season series 8-4. Last week, they clinched the Highway 23 series trophy for a second consecutive year. St. Cloud is 5-0 against Willmar at Joe Faber Field. He collected 40 hits including seven doubles, a triple and three home runs. Kelly finished the 2019 Northwoods League season with a .303 batting average, 28 runs scored and 23 runs batted in. Kelly also participated in the Major League Dreams Showcase -He started all 18 games for the University of Minnesota during the 2020 season, scoring nine runs -His brother Cody also plays for the Rox. The original ice sheet opened for business in November of 1972. For over 15 years, the MAC was the only sheet within a 30 mile radius. Originally, the MAC hosted three area high schools, St. Cloud State and St. John's University hockey programs, plus the areas youth hockey and figure skating organizations. With the increase in skating over the last 12 years, St. Cloud has seen ice sheets added to St. Cloud State University and the Benton County Fairgrounds.
