Spring break is close and all of the Cir- cuit Rider staff hope you have a fun and safe one! We have lots of fun things in this issue. Go have fun and enjoy this newest issue!!! LJHS Circuit Rider April. 2018 Easter is a religious holiday that celebrates and honors the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This holiday is Christianity’s most important holiday, other than Christmas , which celebrates Jesus’ birthday. Some also say that Easter origins from the Teutonic goddess, Eostre. Others say that Eater is traced to the Latin word hebdomada alba which means “white week.” This was in reference to the people who were baptized and wore white clothing. People soon found out that there was a translation error. The word hebdomada alba really means Easter in English. Easter is often celebrated by the Easter Bunny coming into people’s houses, like Santa Claus, and hide eggs. When all the children in the world wake up, they would hunt the eggs and maybe find a little surprise inside. Even though Easter is a religious holiday, everyone around the world celebrates it, religious or not. Happy Easter everyone! April 2018 Alaina- “I am going to Disneyworld, and Arika is coming too! Arika- “I am going to Disneyworld with my best friend.” Mackinze- “I am being a couch potato and memorize my play lines.” Anna- “Probably doing track the whole time then sitting at home eating ice cream.” Emmorie- “Nothing. I may have a tournament depending on the day.” Natalie- “I don’t know, sleeping?” Shelby- “Uh..sleeping.” Emma- “Track and dance competitions.” Autumn- “Track and Believe.” Brooklyn- “Eating.” Mrs. Workman- “I don’t know yet. I may stick around and be close to home. I will probably go around to places with my grandchildren. LJHS Circuit Rider April. 2018 Hello everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Spring Break. I’m sure we are all glad that PARCC is done and out of the way. During my Spring Break, I went all over the United States and was active almost every single day. HAHA just kidding! When you count them all and take your answer to Mrs. Workman in room 314, if you get it right, you’ll receive a prize! There can only be three winners, so I suggest you hurry! Our school was rated 5 out of 10 based on performance skills, school environment, graduation rate, and more. Five out of ten is the average rat- ing for schools in Illinois. We have an average of 417 students, meaning our school is average size over the years. In our school, there is roughly 49% male students and 51% female. About 88% of those students identify as Caucasian. This means that we have less of an ethnic distribution than the average schools that have about 69.6% in Lincoln Il. As you know, our school gives free breakfast and lunch to the students. Our school has had some of the highest PARCC testing scores. We have about 400 kids in the school total. The student:teacher ratio is around 15:1 meaning that for eve- ry fifteen students in our school, there is one teacher. We are part of dis- trict 27. Mr. Froebe is our superintendent followed by Mr. Workman as our principal, and Mr. Bainter as our assistant principle/athletic director. We have around 50 total staff in the building. We have about 10 clubs that students can participate in such as, Photo Club, Circuit Rider, Scholastic Bowl, Play, Student Council, Builder’s Club, etc. Our sports contain of Girl’s Basketball, Boy’s basketball, Softball, Baseball, Volleyball, Cheer, Poms, Girl’s Track, Boy’s Track, and Wrestling. There has been two different Lincoln Junior High School buildings. Ap ril The play this year is Charlotte’s Web. A few things you can do for this springtime holiday are: Usually around Easter time the weather is nice so, bring your pets or some friends! Gather your friends and family and go have someone hide eggs with treats inside! Safely color boiled egg shells with food coloring! Seeing how Easter is a holiday surrounding the resurrection of Jesus, you could spend some time at Church! LJHS Circuit Rider April. 2018 Bugs bunny was created by Ben Hardaway, cal Dalton, Charles Thorson, Tex Avery, Bob Givens, Chuck Jones, and Robert Mckimson. Bugs is a gray hare or rabbit who has a insouciant personality. He often times says, “Eh… what’s up, doc?”. He is very famous for he has appeared in TV series, music records, comic books, video games, award shows, amusement park rides, commercials, shorts films, and feature films. Recently The Four contestant Zhavia has caught the eyes and ears of many music lovers. Zhavia rocked the show by singing a cover of Bodak Yellow. She also sang songs by Khalid and Rihan- na. According to Yahoo, she had health concerns which resulted in a rough performance. This is what Yahoo said, “ The fluctua- tions between her strained upper notes and froggy lower regis- ter, combined with her garbled enunciation, made this almost painful to the ear. But looking at her, with her waist-length dreadlocks, drag-queen eye makeup, and Cher Lloyd attitude, there was no denying that she looked like a star.” Kendyle who was going against Zhavia. Meghan Trainor who host the show later told Kendyle, “Your performance may have outshined Zha- via tonight, but as an artist, I want to buy Zhavia’s album.” April 2018 You will need: 2tsp of vanilla extract A whole chicken Dough from a frozen pizza Ice cream (to cry while you make it cause it won’t be as good as Wubbzy’s) 3 cups of Chickey jelly 2 tsp.

  • Undercover Footage from Sydney Slaughterhouse Released As NSW & Federal Govt Seek to Criminalise Whistleblowing
MEDIA RELEASE – 29 AUGUST 2019 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ‘Horrific but legal’ undercover footage from Sydney slaughterhouse released as NSW & Federal Govt seek to criminalise whistleblowing Animal rights organisations Aussie Farms and Animals Within have released new footage captured by a hidden body-worn camera at the Picton Meatworx (formerly Wollondilly Abattoir), a multi-species slaughterhouse south of Sydney, amid efforts by the NSW and Federal Governments to severely increase penalties for activists who expose animal cruelty. View the footage: 8 minute summary edit: https://www.aussiefarms.org.au/videos?id=yq7rtdnf07 25 minute full edit: https://www.aussiefarms.org.au/videos?id=pneynwbwc9 The footage includes: the use of excruciating carbon dioxide gas chambers on pigs, goats and sheep; repeated failure of captive bolt stunning, with one pig shot eight times while screaming in pain; twisting and breaking of cows’ tails to force them to walk into the knockbox; animals regularly witnessing those before them being killed and consequently trying to escape. It was recorded by a university student undertaking a placement at the facility as part of their animal science degree. Chris Delforce, Executive Director of Aussie Farms and director of Dominion: “This is some of the most damning Australian footage I’ve ever seen, and yet, it’s completely legal. There are very minimal laws in place to protect animals in facilities like these, which is the complete opposite to what most consumers are led to believe; while there’s a general offence for animal cruelty in the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act (POCTA) NSW, farms and slaughterhouses are exempt from this if they follow basic codes of practice which effectively legalise cruelty that regular citizens wouldn’t be able to get away with.” “The code of practice relating to slaughterhouses is only a model code, intended as non-enforceable guidelines for states and territories to develop their own legislation, but 18 years later none have done so.
