Tations of the World DEPOSITORY, NOV 5- 1975 UNtV. OK ILL. LIBRARY T t' 'MPAIGN tations of The World PART I 26TH EDITION 1 JUNE 1974 TWENTY- SIXTH EDITION PART I AMPLITUDE MODULATION BROADCASTING STATIONS ACCORDING TO COUNTRY AND CITY Appendix Call Sign Allocations & World Time Chart INFORMATION CORRECTED TO 1 JUNE 1974 KIT sale by the Superintendent of Documents. I..S. Government i'rintinfi OtVu-c Washington. D.C. 21M02 Price $2.6:> Stock Numl,er 4105-OOOW FOREWORD This edition of BROADCASTING STATIONS OF THE WORLD lists all reported radio broadcasting and television stations with the exception of those in the United States of America which broadcast on domestic channels. Part I (Blue Cover) AMPLITUDE MODULATION broadcasting stations: Information is indexed alphabetically by COUNTRY and CITY. Within a city, stations are listed in ascending order of frequency. Multiple listing of the same station on different frequencies does not necessarily indicate the number of transmitters, since one transmitter may operate on different frequencies at different times. Other information includes call letters and/or station name, power, wavelength, frequency, status of frequency or transmitter and ownership. Part II (Green Cover) AMPLITUDE MODULATION broadcasting stations: Information is indexed according to FREQUENCY in ascending order. Part HI (Maroon Cover) FREQUENCY MODULATION broadcasting stations: Two sections, one indexed alphabetically by COUNTRY and CITY, and the other indexed by FREQUENCY in ascending order, include the same elements of information as Parts I and II. Part IV (Brown Cover) TELEVISION stations: Two sections, one indexed alphabetically by COUNTRY and CITY, and the other indexed by FREQUENCY in ascending order, include the same elements of information as Parts I, II, and III plus additional data to distinguish audio, video, polarization, and other technical factors which may apply. The column headings covering all data listed in Parts I and II, are defined as follows: COUNTRY: The name of the country in which the facility is located. Owing to format limitations of the data processing equipment, the popular rather than the full official name is used for some countries. Colonies, protectorates, mandates and overseas territories plus Clandestine, Quasi-clandestine, and Freedom broadcasting stations are generally treated as countries for the purposes of this publication. CITY: The announced location of the station, relay stations excepted. It is usually the studio and administrative location, since transmitters are often located in outlying areas. For clarification of location in certain cases, old or alternate names, provinces, and in some cases transmitter sites, are included in a secondary position in the column. Clandestine, and Quasi-clandestine stations are listed as target country, area, or language under this column. SYMBOLS: Status denoted by symbols may change at any time after publication of this edition. See page following foreword. CALL LETTERS: Letters and/or numerals used for station identification purposes. Many countries do not assign call letters to broadcast services, hence the numerous omissions. STATION NAME: The name announced by or applied to a station for identification purposes in lieu of or in addition to call letters. The station name has been reduced in some cases due to space limitations, but the essential elements or abbreviations thereof have been preserved. OWNERSHIP: The entity, individual or corporate, in whose name the station is licensed and operated. POWER: Stated in watts. The listed figures are usually authorized power of the trans- mitter, but in some cases of known deviation the actual operating power has been sub- stituted. When two powers are listed, the figures represent the lower and upper limits of power where a station uses more than one transmitter on the frequency at different times (shortwave), or varies the power of the transmitter for day and night operation (medium- wave ) . WAVELENGTH: Stated in meters. FREQUENCY: Stated in kilohertz per second. Due to propagational conditions, inter- ference by other stations, jamming, malfunction of transmitter, reallocation of frequencies by a country or convention, or for some other reason, stations may use frequencies which are at variance with this publication. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: With numerous entries additional information has been included concerning future plans, programs carried, associated stations, network affilia- tions, etc. CALL SIGN ALLOCATIONS: A listing of international call sign prefixes by country and by alphabetical order of call signs is appended to Parts I and II. TIME CHART: A table of summer, winter and standard time differences with respect to GMT for each country is appended to Parts I and II.
