Wednesday 4th November @ 4pm Play-based Learning: we are currently undertaking professional learning and development in relation to Play-based Learning within the Lamb & Calf Day junior area of school. Play-based learning is a pedagogical approach Friday 6th November where play is the valued mode of learning – where children can explore, experiment, discover, and solve problems in imaginative and playful Teacher only Day ways. Friday 13th November

Next Assembly Friday 20th November @ 2.30pm

Learning through play forms the foundation of Te Whāriki, the early childhood curriculum and it is becoming a more common approach to learning in junior primary classrooms. Learning through play programmes enable tamariki to engage in self directed play that is internally motivated. This is being implemented to create some consistency for our pre-school akonga and help with developing a seamless transition between both the Playcentre and School Kura. At Mangaweka School, our play-based learning initiative will be linked to the Curriculum Key Competencies: Thinking; Using language, symbols and text; Managing Self; Participating and Contributing; and Relating to Others. Our teacher observations will focus on our school curriculum Key Attitudes: Curiosity, Open-mindedness, Persistence and Empathy and measuring Teacher Practices that support effective play-based learning; how it is being achieved and what the outcomes are for our tamariki. Thank you to Memory for sharing her knowledge and resources for our Kura and to all our Kaiako for having a growth mindset towards this new learning.

Photolife: 2020 school photos will be undertaken on Friday 30th October @ 9am Sibling photo’s are available on the day. Please notify the school if you would like to do this. An envelope will come home. Please complete and return to school prior to photo’s.

School Sunscreen is available.

Remember: No hat, No play. Our tamariki also need to bring their drink bottles to school each day.
