Everest Base Camp Trek Spring 2017 PS Sherpa 2016 Everest Base Camp Trek Spring 2017 This remarkable trek begins with 30 minutes “breathtaking” flight to Lukla at 2840 meters. The classic trail passes through the picturesque Sherpa village of Namche Bazaar to Gorakshep culminating in the “vantage point” of Kalapattar at 5545 meters from the sea level. From where the classic views of Everest and its surrounding peaks are outstanding. Most of the time is spent above altitudes of 3000 meters in the Khumbu and Imja valleys whose skylines are dominated by the massive snowcapped peaks of the Eastern Himalaya. 1 PS Sherpa 2016 During these 2 weeks of trekking, there will be plenty of time to enjoy the culture of the Sherpas, visit of ancient monasteries and learn how Lamaistic Buddhism influences Sherpa Life. Stop at any of the numerous tea houses sip a glass of sweetened tea or Chang (millet beer) and get a test of hospitality brave Sherpa, multi-hued prayer flags, prayer wheels and intricately – carved mani stones lien very hilltop, rock wall and trail side singing prayers to the gods with every breeze and very passing traveler. The mountains can be seen from Kalapattar (5545 m.) are Mt. Everest, Lhotse and Nuptse. Changatse in Tibet is also visible from the summit. We also get a good panoramic view of Amadablam, Tawoche and Kusum Kanguru, completely in different angels. (15kg baggage weight + small hand carry are free.) • Extra night accommodation in any cities or in the mountain/Lukla due to flight cancellation/delay or by any reason whatsoever than the scheduled itinerary. • Main meals (Lunch and dinner) during hotel stay in Kathmandu (these meals are not included because there are lot of choices of restaurant 5 PS Sherpa 2016 around our hotel) and also in the case you return early from the mountain than the scheduled itinerary due to own reason). • Lunches in Lukla for the same reason: there is a lot of choice in the village • Personal Travel and rescue insurance, insurance must cover loss baggage, damages, and helicopter rescues charges in case of emergency. • Personal expenses (phone calls, internet, laundry, bar bills, battery recharge, extra porters, bottle or boiled water and hot shower during the trek). • Tips for guides and porters. Accommodations: Accommodations are included in the trip cost and Vertical Adventures Company has carefully chosen them for you. During this trip you will spend 3 night at 4 stars hotels in Kathmandu (similar standard), and 2 nights in Lukla in Sherpa Lodge with attached bathroom and 10 nights in basic teahouse lodge with or without attached bathroom. We try to maintain standard comfort in every matter based on the enforceable conditions such as weather calamities. Meals: During Everest Base Camp Trek and your visit in Lukla Hospital, you can enjoy typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisines as well as all types of international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.), menu will be provided to chose your food by yourself. Breakfast will be provided from the lodge menu where you spent your night. Lunch will be served in the teahouses on the way to destination, dinner and breakfast will be served in the teahouse where you will spend the night during the trek. Lunch will be extra during your stay in Lukla to visit hospital. Daily breakfast will be provided during your stay in Kathmandu. A Welcome dinner will be provided in a Typical Nepalese Restaurant in the evening of your first day in Kathmandu. Lunch and dinners are not including while you stay in hotels in Kathmandu as you can have lots of choices of restaurant in those cities. Health and past experience: Everest Base Camp Trek is a moderate trek suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 4-7 hours a day with a light rucksack. In some days we might even need to walk 8 to 9 hours (especially during the day of hiking to Everest Base Camp and Kalapattar). Walking in higher altitudes is more physically 6 PS Sherpa 2016 demanding than walking in the lower elevations; however, if you are in excellent health with average physical fitness, have a positive attitude, self confidence and strong determination, you can accomplish the trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is recommended to consult your doctor before you decide and set up for the Everest Base camp trek. Participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases should inform Vertical Adventures Company before booking the trek. A Typical Trekking day: Soon after first light your Assistant Sherpa guide will knock on your room door and will offer you a cup of warm tea. After freshening up, you will pack your bags and assemble in the dining hall for a hearty breakfast before setting off on the day`s trekking. After approximately 2-3+ hours of trekking you will take a lunch break. After a relaxing lunch, you will typically spend 2-3+ more hours on the trail before reaching your stooping point. Throughout the day you will rest and take some time to admire the views. There will be plenty of picture taking opportunities - incredibly panoramic mountains, rivers, landscapes, prayer flags, temples, shrines, cairns, monasteries, etc. Once you arrive at your teahouse, you will take a brief rest, shower, and have a light snack with tea or coffee. If you are so inclined, you may take a short walk through the village and surrounding areas. After checking into your room you`ll have time to read or chat with fellow trekkers and your Vertical Adventures Company crew. Following a warm dinner in a cozy dining hall your trek leader will brief you on the next day`s itinerary. You will place your order for breakfast which will allow your guide to have everything ready for you in the morning. Extra time can be spent reading, enjoying some drinks or playing cards. Your Vertical Adventures Company crew loves to teach various Nepali card games as well as learning new Western games. Finally, it`s off to bed for a well earned night`s rest before starting all over again the next day. Travel Insurance: It is a condition upon joining any of Vertical Adventures Company's trips that all clients be insured for comprehensive expenses that might incur due to medical or accidents issues (this includes air ambulance, helicopter rescue operation charge, and treatment costs).

A short drive brings us in to Kathmandu – the capital city of Nepal. With its maze of narrow 1 streets, wooden temples and beautifully decorated palaces, it truly has the air of a medieval city. In the evening we enjoy a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepalese Restaurant. _______________________________________________________________________________ Fly to Lukla (2840m) & trek to Phakding (2652m) – 3 hours walking Day This morning we will be collected from our hotel and transferred to Kathmandu airport for a domestic flight 2 to Lukla. Upon arrival, we are met by our trekking guide and porters. From Lukla we descend on a wide trail northwest to the village of Choblung in the Dudh Kosi Valley.

    TENZING HILLARY EVEREST MARATHON 10 MAY TO 03 JUNE 2021 – CLASSIC TRAIL + EVENT DAY 01 – 10 MAY: ARRIVAL IN KATHMANDU On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport you will be met by a member of the organization team and transferred to the Shanker Hotel which is the race headquarters of the Tenzing Hillary Everest Marathon. Your guide will give you a brief orientation of the Hotel, Kathmandu, Trekking, do's and don'ts and other related information that you might require whilst in Nepal. DAY 02 – 11 MAY: SIGHTSEEING TOUR OF KATHMANDU After breakfast enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of the city. We shall visit major sites of cultural, religious and historical importance. Kathmandu offers startling travel experiences with its medieval history and architecture, where myths and legends blend seamlessly and modernism and traditional coexist. Tour includes visits to Boudhanath Stupa, the country's largest Buddhist stupa, the Pashupatinath Temple of Shiva on the banks of Bagmati river which is the holiest Hindu temple in Nepal and the hilltop shrine of Swayambhunath also known as the 'Monkey Temple'. After lunch, there will be a race meeting at the hotel lobby, where you will receive your race number and official t- shirt and be briefed about the upcoming trek to the Everest Base Camp and the race itself. The rest of the day can be spent as you wish before you make final preparations for the journey into the Khumbu.
