Page 2 / 8 The itinerary Benchmarks Level of hikes: Walker: Walk approximately from 4h30 hours to 5h00 from 350 to 500 meters of elevation gain Hiker: Walk about 5 hours from 500 to 650 meters of elevation gain Confirmed: Walk approximately 5 hours to 5H30 from 600 to 900 meters elevation gain Duration: 13 days / 12 nights Portage: During the walks, each participant wears a light backpack, containing only the personal belongings necessary for the day (water bottle, camera, protective clothing, etc ...) as well as a picnic. Day GASPESIE NATIONAL PARK Meals included: morning, noon, evening - Transfer: 60 kilometers 7 True sea of mountains, the Gaspésie National Park has 25 peaks over 1000 meters high October 2, and opens to infinity! The altitude of the park's mountains profoundly influences the climate that shapes the entire landscape and creates a diversity of species that is unique 2020 in Quebec and even in the world. Arctic-alpine plants and tundra landscapes are the preferred habitat for a herd of caribou, the last representatives of this species south of the St. Lawrence. The hike will take us to the Mont Albert area, in the heart of the park, and the volunteers will be able to attack Mount Xalibu (1120 m). The other participants will join the lake of the Americans. You might take positive steps as David Grassby did recently. David Grassby was 12 years old when he read an article about environmental threats to Oakbank Pond near his home in Thornhill, Ontario. David decided to help protect the pond and its wildlife. David talked to classmates and community members. He discovered that writing letters and informing the media are powerful tools to get action. He wrote many letters to the Town Council, the CBC, and newspapers. He appeared on several TV shows, including The Nature of Things hosted by David Suzuki. In each of his letters and interviews, David explained the problems facing the pond and suggested some solutions. For example, people were feeding the ducks. This attracted too many ducks for the pond to support. David recommended that the town install signs asking people not to feed the ducks. The media were able to convince people to make changes. David Grassby learned that it is important to be patient and to keep trying. He learned that one person can make a difference. Today, Oakbank Pond is a nature preserve, home to many birds such as ducks, Canada geese, blackbirds, and herons.
