Podium for John Mccullagh in Snetterton Carrera Cup www.porscheroadandrace.com Podium for John McCullagh in Snetterton Carrera Cup Published: 7th August 2017 By: Glen Smale Online version: https://www.porscheroadandrace.com/podium-for-john-mccullagh-in-snetterton-carrera-cup/ John McCullagh announced his return to the Porsche Carrera Cup with a magnificent third- place finish for Round 8 of the UK’s fastest single-make racing series at the Snetterton circuit in Norfolk on 29/30 July. www.porscheroadandrace.com Podium with Alex Martin 1st, Justin Sherwood in 2nd and John McCullagh 3rd at the Porsche Carrera Cup GB round at Snetterton on 30 July 2017 Starting in 13th position overall on the grid, John made a good start and began to establish a good rhythm in his ProAm1 class around the three-mile circuit. Ex-BTCC driver Alex Martin and former Carrera Cup GB ProAm1 Champion Justin Sherwood were up from first and second respectively in the ProAm1 class while Graeme Mundy was putting the pressure on McCullagh in fourth. But just as McCullagh had begun to establish a rhythm, the safety car called into action following a couple of incidents where cars had left the track, necessitating the temporary go-slow. www.porscheroadandrace.com Following the safety car, McCullagh’s rivals managed to steal a march on the former ProAm2 Championship winner and John wasn’t able to get close enough to challenge for the top step in class. McCullagh, did however manage to storm away from the chasing pack and finished the race in the all-important podium position on his first Carrera Cup outing since October 2016. The podium meant John finished 12th overall and it was a tremendous boost for both the driver and the Redline Racing team. www.porscheroadandrace.com Onto Round 9 (Race 2 of the day), McCullagh’s second fastest qualifying lap put him in 12th place for the standing start race. As soon as the red lights went out there was trouble for McCullagh, as his car had stalled on the line. He managed to fire up the 3.8-litre 460hp engine but the stall meant he’d dropped back several places before the first turn. www.porscheroadandrace.com The disappointing start meant John was now going to have to work his way through and past the PromAm2 (PA2) battles before engaging in his own class battle. After passing the PA2 pole man, and one of the quickest drivers of the weekend Peter Kyle-Henney, McCullagh couldn’t put distance between them and it made for an entertaining race for the packed house of spectators. Although having to defend hard at times, McCullagh wasn’t able to make up time to catch his class mates, and finished in a respectable fourth place and 14th overall. www.porscheroadandrace.com McCullagh said: “One positive to take away from this weekend was that I was racing hard and making up time, which gives me tremendous confidence for the next round at Knockhill on 12/13 August. Between now and then, I’ll be commuting to and from my day job when I can on my new e-bike, and then also take in a few long conventional bike rides to sharpen the mind and body. I’ll be studying some video and our track data ahead of the official Porsche test on Tuesday this week all to prep for rounds 10 and 12 on the compact and very challenging Scottish circuit. If you were at the Snetterton over the weekend, thank you for your support and I’d love to see any photos you took. Feel free to share them on my Facebook page or tag on Twitter.” www.porscheroadandrace.com McCullagh celebrating 3rd place of round 8 of the Porsche Carrera Cup GB at Snetterton on 30 July 2017 In the Pro Class, John’s team mate Charlie Eastwood moved into the championship lead in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB after securing the team’s eighth win of the season in Race 1 followed by a close-fought second place in Race 2. The results meant that Eastwood now tops the standings after his main rival and double championship winner, Dan Cammish was away racing in the Porsche Supercup at the Hungaroring. www.porscheroadandrace.com The weekend’s results mean Redline Racing maintain a healthy 79-point advantage atop the Teams Championship and hold four of the top five positions in the Drivers’ Championship ahead of the next rounds at Knockhill in Scotland next weekend (12/13 August). Press Release July 5, 2015 No. M 109/15 Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, round 4, Formula 1 race at Silverstone/Great Britain Philipp Eng continues his winning streak with a victory Stuttgart. Philipp Eng (Market Leader Team by Project 1) from Austria celebrated a successful weekend in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. On the 5.891 kilometre Silver- stone circuit, famed for its fast corners, 25-year-old Eng crossed the finish line first ahead of Alex Riberas (E/The Heart of Racing by Lechner) and Michael Ammermül- ler (D/Lechner Racing Middle East). “I got away perfectly at the start and I’m over the moon with this important win. Silverstone is a demanding track and everything simply ran very smoothly for me,” said Eng, after receiving his trophy. With 70 points, Eng ranks first in the drivers’ standings after four of eleven championship rounds. A total of 31 competitors from 13 countries headed into the Silverstone weekend on Friday with their 460 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars. By Sunday, Eng was the undisputed man of the series, claiming pole position in qualifying and victory at Sun- day’s race. From the first race of the season in Barcelona, Eng’s form has continued on an upward trajectory. At the season-opener he finished on fourth, in Monaco and Spielberg he clinched second, and now at Silverstone the Salzburg-born racer finally netted his first Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup win of the season. Riberas was another strong contender this weekend. As the fastest in practice and the second fastest in qualifying, the Lechner pilot kept Eng under constant pressure and at times even came within 0.3-seconds of the leader.

  • Silverstone – Races 18 September 2016
Rounds 13 & 14: Silverstone – Races 18 September 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup GB: Silverstone, rounds thirteen and fourteen – race reports Cammish reigns supreme at Silverstone to secure second championship Reigning champion Dan Cammish (Redline Racing) became only the third driver in Porsche Carrera Cup GB history to secure back-to-back championships, displaying his mastery of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car with two pole positions and race wins. Cammish was not alone in leaving Silverstone with a title, however, as Redline Racing secured the Team title. Fellow team member Charlie Eastwood laid claim to the 2016 Rookie title, while Euan McKay (IN2 Racing) battled his way to an unassailable lead in the Pro-Am1 category. Round thirteen Cammish made a perfect start and was never troubled after he surged ahead, posting the fastest lap on his way to taking his 10th win of the season. Before the lights had even turned green, Tom Sharp (IDL Racing) dashed to the pits on the formation lap with possible clutch issues. A bitter disappointment for the 2015 Rookie champion, as despite posting the second fastest lap he could improve no further than to 16th. Behind Cammish battles raged, Stephen Jelley (Team Parker Racing) briefly taking second place from Tom Oliphant (Team Redline) before a signature move from Oliphant around the outside saw him reclaim the place. With one more challenge from Jelley at Brooklands rebuffed, Oliphant strode to a strong second place and a long-overdue podium finish for the rapid newcomer. Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2017 14 December 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup GB: star signings headline record early registrations for 2017 Catch Cammish if you can as double-champion leads record 20 early registrations The Porsche Carrera Cup GB, the fastest single marque GT racing Championship in the UK, has announced the highest number of competitors confirming their entry before 31 December in its history. In a development that underlines the appeal of the 2017 package for teams and drivers, which includes a headline race alongside the Le Mans 24 Hours in June, the attraction of 20 early registrations so far clearly builds on the success of the 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup GB season. Leading the charge will be 2015 and 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Dan Cammish (27, Leeds). Following a record-breaking 12 wins in 2016, Cammish has announced his intention to challenge for an unprecedented third title in the UK’s fastest single marque GT championship. The Yorkshireman’s 2017 campaign will continue his successful partnership with Redline Racing (Stockton on Tees), which clinched its 100th Porsche Carrera Cup GB race win earlier in the year. However, a talented mixture of new and returning competitors could make 2017 one of the toughest seasons yet. After claiming two championship titles in the last three years, 2016 Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup champion Tom Wrigley (24, Chirk) will take the next step in his career by joining the Porsche Carrera Cup GB Pro and Rookie categories with IN2 Racing. In a parallel move, Ginetta front-runner Jamie Orton (36) will be entering the Pro and Rookie categories with Team Parker Racing (Leicester), both drivers following in the footsteps of 2016 podium finisher Tom Oliphant (26, Leamington Spa) who made a similar move last year.
