Silverstone – Races 18 September 2016 Rounds 13 & 14: Silverstone – Races 18 September 2016 Porsche Carrera Cup GB: Silverstone, rounds thirteen and fourteen – race reports Cammish reigns supreme at Silverstone to secure second championship Reigning champion Dan Cammish (Redline Racing) became only the third driver in Porsche Carrera Cup GB history to secure back-to-back championships, displaying his mastery of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car with two pole positions and race wins. Cammish was not alone in leaving Silverstone with a title, however, as Redline Racing secured the Team title. Fellow team member Charlie Eastwood laid claim to the 2016 Rookie title, while Euan McKay (IN2 Racing) battled his way to an unassailable lead in the Pro-Am1 category. Round thirteen Cammish made a perfect start and was never troubled after he surged ahead, posting the fastest lap on his way to taking his 10th win of the season. Before the lights had even turned green, Tom Sharp (IDL Racing) dashed to the pits on the formation lap with possible clutch issues. A bitter disappointment for the 2015 Rookie champion, as despite posting the second fastest lap he could improve no further than to 16th. Behind Cammish battles raged, Stephen Jelley (Team Parker Racing) briefly taking second place from Tom Oliphant (Team Redline) before a signature move from Oliphant around the outside saw him reclaim the place. With one more challenge from Jelley at Brooklands rebuffed, Oliphant strode to a strong second place and a long-overdue podium finish for the rapid newcomer. It was a fitting drive to secure him the 2016 Rookie championship. Jelley fought hard to hold on to fourth, while Dino Zamparelli (GT Marques) kept his championship hopes alive by a thread in fifth. Team mate Alessandro Latif followed up his strong qualifying performance with a late race surge that took him to sixth, although late contact between Jonas Gelzinis (Juta Racing) and Lewis Plato (Team Redline) saw Plato eventually retire with a puncture. In Pro-Am1, Dan McKay (IN2 Racing) never looked under threat, taking ninth overall and his second category win of 2016. Brother Euan (IN2 Racing) had a fantastic duel with Sean Hudspeth (Parr Motorsport) for most of the 28 laps, resolved in McKay’s favour when Hudspeth spun at Copse after the pair had swapped places at least three times. Hudspeth recovered to fourth, leaving Justin Sherwood (Team Parker Racing) to take the final podium place. Peter Kyle-Henney (Parr Motorsport) maintained his stranglehold on the Pro-Am2 category, fighting in amongst the Pro-Am1 contenders and taking the category win with an almost ten second margin. Mark Radcliffe (Intersport Racing) did his championship hopes no harm in second, with Tautvydas Barstys (Juta Racing) maintaining a slender championship advantage in third. Round fourteen Jelley and Zamparelli ran Cammish close, but neither could deny the champion elect taking his second title in style with his 11th win of the season – a tally that matches his 2015 haul of victories. Jelley looked a threat on the opening lap, but a challenge from Zamparelli saw his focus shift from offence to defence and Cammish edge away in the lead. Eastwood was forced to start the second race on worn tyres after his qualifying lock up, but still managed to gain three places to finish a solid fourth. Recovering from his race one setback, Sharp took sixth after Oliphant received a five second penalty for exceeding track limits. Continuing his run of good form, Dan McKay took his sixth consecutive podium and second consecutive win in Pro-Am1, while brother Euan, newly crowned category champion, followed him home in second. Sherwood once again made the podium after a spin for Hudspeth in the early stages saw him drop to fourth. Some of the best race action came from the Pro-Am2 category. Shamus Jennings (G-Cat Racing) took his first win of the season with a fine drive, defending all the way from Iain Dockerill (Asset Advantage Racing). A second-time visitor to the podium, Barrie Baxter recovered well after dropping to the back of the pack to take third. Category leader Barstys held on to fourth after main contenders Kyle-Henney and Radcliffe came together at Luffield, both drivers going no further and bringing out the safety car. With just two rounds remaining, only the Pro-Am2 title remains to be decided. After their performances at Silverstone, several drivers will be hungrier than ever to prove their mettle ahead of 2017 and take a maiden victory. In 2014, Porsche returned to Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with the factory-run 919 Hybrid sports prototype race car in the top LMP1 category, and scored its first outright victory in its debut WEC season in the final race in Brazil. Porsche scored its 18th and latest success in Le Mans this June when France’s Romain Dumas, Swiss driver Neel Jani and Marc Lieb from Germany took the chequered flag in their 919 Hybrid LMP1 after 24 hours of flat out racing. The 919 Hybrid LMP1 proves the ‘downsizing’ concept in featuring a unique two-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine, supplemented by two energy recovery systems, which combined develop almost 900 hp.

Philipp Eng (Market Leader Team by Project 1) from Austria celebrated a successful weekend in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup. On the 5.891 kilometre Silver- stone circuit, famed for its fast corners, 25-year-old Eng crossed the finish line first ahead of Alex Riberas (E/The Heart of Racing by Lechner) and Michael Ammermül- ler (D/Lechner Racing Middle East). “I got away perfectly at the start and I’m over the moon with this important win. Silverstone is a demanding track and everything simply ran very smoothly for me,” said Eng, after receiving his trophy. With 70 points, Eng ranks first in the drivers’ standings after four of eleven championship rounds. A total of 31 competitors from 13 countries headed into the Silverstone weekend on Friday with their 460 hp Porsche 911 GT3 Cup race cars. By Sunday, Eng was the undisputed man of the series, claiming pole position in qualifying and victory at Sun- day’s race. From the first race of the season in Barcelona, Eng’s form has continued on an upward trajectory. At the season-opener he finished on fourth, in Monaco and Spielberg he clinched second, and now at Silverstone the Salzburg-born racer finally netted his first Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup win of the season. Riberas was another strong contender this weekend. As the fastest in practice and the second fastest in qualifying, the Lechner pilot kept Eng under constant pressure and at times even came within 0.3-seconds of the leader.

Ex-BTCC driver Alex Martin and former Carrera Cup GB ProAm1 Champion Justin Sherwood were up from first and second respectively in the ProAm1 class while Graeme Mundy was putting the pressure on McCullagh in fourth. But just as McCullagh had begun to establish a rhythm, the safety car called into action following a couple of incidents where cars had left the track, necessitating the temporary go-slow. www.porscheroadandrace.com Following the safety car, McCullagh’s rivals managed to steal a march on the former ProAm2 Championship winner and John wasn’t able to get close enough to challenge for the top step in class.     Porsche Carrera Cup GB 2021 16 August 2021 Porsche Carrera Cup GB: Knockhill, rounds seven and eight – report Hanafin and King share the spoils in Scotland to ramp up title fight Porsche Carrera Cup GB – the fastest single marque GT racing championship in the UK – headed north for its annual trip to Knockhill in Scotland. The rollercoaster 1.2- mile circuit is a firm favourite with drivers and fans alike as it frequently delivers thrilling racing. In line with the latest Scottish government guidance Knockhill welcomed a capacity crowd to the British Touring Car Championship weekend which witnessed two exciting Porsche races that brought the 2021 championship fight closer than ever. Both of Friday's practice sessions took place in dry and overcast conditions with the threat of rain in the air. Following the majority of the grid taking part in a Porsche exclusive test on Wednesday, the drivers completed further laps on Friday though both sessions were interrupted by red flag periods. Porsche GB Junior Harry King (Team Parker Racing) topped both practice sessions but he was run close by Lorcan Hanafin (JTR) – just 0.062 secs split the pair in second practice. The Pro-Am category was headed by Nathan Harrison (Team HARD) who was closely matched by Jake Rattenbury (Team Redline Racing). Rookie Josh Stanton (Team HARD) was the quickest Am driver. Saturday afternoon's qualifying session was an equally closely contested affair. Will Martin (Richardson Racing) claimed the maiden pole position of his Porsche racing career, joined on the front row of the grid by Hanafin with King third.
