16 November PHRF Racing Submitted by Cathy Talisman You never know what is going to happening when you go on the water. We had the committee boat ready, the safety boat ready and the ready. Jim Masson was ready to take out Calypso (the commit- tee boat) when we started talking to Roger Daisley of Gulfport, who just joined the club Friday night with his wife Margaret. He hopped on Calypso and worked the race with Jim. Pretty cool for being so new to the club. Roger is looking for a boat instructor to be able to sail the Capris. Well, the motor on our new safety boat decided not to cooperate. Start, stop, start stop. In the meantime, we hailed Mark Rother sailing out of the channel to come in the basin to pick the markers for the race. He picked three markers which obviously took a lot on room on his 21. Mark and John did set the marks. With the help of Richard Walters, the damn thing started running. Here we go, finally leav- ing the basin and joining the race which had started. We bubbled around and watch the racers. The first race had wind and no wind and wind again. There was enough of a breeze to have three races. Awesome. Mark Rother and John Russo raced on Godzilla; Dave Roberts and crew sailed on Legacy, they even set up a spinnaker for one race; we had four capris with Pat and her husband Martin, Dianne Benedetti and Suzanne Boohar, Kathy Maechtle and Meg Banitch and Stan Yefi- mov. See you on the water. Cathy
