    KIBP Media Tour

    KIBP Media Tour UIA officials led by Eng Dr Frank Sebbowa, Executive Director UIA, hosted various members of the media fraternity to a tour round the Kampala Industrial Business Park (KIBP) in Namanve. KIBP is among the 22 Industrial Parks planned across the Country to create jobs and ease land access for investors. Eng Dr Sebbowa (3rd left) entering Fols Logistics, a rice processing firm that produces Kingdom rice for both national and regional consumption. The company which employs 230 employees (98% Ugandans), sits on 3.4 acres at the KIBP and began implementing its investment just 6 months ago. According to the General Manager, the factory produces 300 tonnes per day and has close to 70% of the market share for rice The KIBP located 11 km East of Kampala, is a 2,200 acre facility, in which all the land (so far) has been al­located to 260 prospective investors for development in various subsectors such as agro processing, mineral processing, ICT, logistics and freight as well as Tourism. Inside Fols Logistics Twenty (20) industries are currently in operation within the KIBP - Namanve industrial park and directly employing 9200 Ugandans within the park, eighty two (82) projects have commenced construction in the KIBP and have created an additional 17,000 indirect short term contract/ technical jobs during the construction period while 158 industries are still clearing their paper work in form of environmental impact assessment, architectural designs, land titling, soil tests as well as hydrological tests. These too create employment to the various white collar professionals such as Architects, Environmental Consultants, Civil Engineers, Quantity Surveyors etc.

This BFP has been prepared with a focus of our mission "To serve the Municipality through coordinated and effective service delivery” which focuses on National and Local priorities in order to promote sustainable social and economic development of Municipality. To demonstrate the element of equal opportunity, the Municipality has been able to allocate resources to Local priorities under different departments, in consideration of factors that perpetuates inequalities among departments for example, number of staff in a department, their role, mandate, expected out puts whilst ensuring the achievement of "growth, employment, social economic Transformation for prosperity" in line with the National Development Plan III. As we advance towards the FY 2021/2022, our main agenda for period will focus on, addressing the problems of inequality through strengthening school inspection to ensure compliance to education guidelines which addresses gender and equity issues, promote Environment sustainability, solid waste management, better sanitation and hygiene and reduce urban poverty while addressing the national programms in addition Construction of administration Block for all staff at the Municipal headquarter, for good governance and enhancing good physical planning are among the priorities of the Municipality. On behalf of the Municipality and my self, i wish to thank the Council and Technical staff for their input in the 2021/2022 BFP, i also extend my sincere gratitude to central government for its continued and timely release of funds to Municipality which has enabled the Municipality to implement decentralized services.
