SOL 3.5a The 7 Continents and 5 Oceans Have you ever wanted to visit a new place? How would you get there? Many people use their phones for directions and maps. Even if you have a phone with a map on it, you still need to know how to read a map and find places on the Earth! First of all, we live on the planet Earth. There are 9 planets, but only one Earth! On the plan- et Earth, there are 7 continents. A continent is a large piece of land on Earth. There are 7. The 7 continents are North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. We live on the continent of North America. There are 5 oceans that surround the continents. An ocean is a large body of water. The 5 oceans are the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, the Indian Ocean, the Arctic Ocean, and the Southern Ocean. Look at the chart below.
