 Most of the late Arnold Heine’s wonderful book collection, more than 1,500 books, will be sold.

 Jan, Arnold’s widow, has generously asked that the proceeds of the Auction and Sale be

donated to the Federated Mountain Clubs of (FMC) Mountain and Forest Trust.

 Arnold’s unique book collection is strong in mountaineering and exploration – ranging from the Himalaya and Tibet, through Central Asia and Siberia, Europe, North America, to the Pacific.

 There are many out-of-print books on New Zealand’s mountaineering history, tramping,

hunting, geology, ecology, conservation and culture, as well as guidebooks.

 Some books are signed by A J Heine: and some have a Heine Library bookplate (shown above).

Conditions of sale:

 The books will be available for inspection at the venue from 7.30 pm on Friday 24th September, prior to the Auction  The books are generally in very good condition, but not all. The buyer must beware.  Participants present at the Auction venue should register, and receive a Bidding Number, prior to the Auction.

 The books will be sold in lots as listed in this catalogue.  There are very low reserves on the books - but Books will not be sold if the highest bid is well below a fair price.

 Payment may be made in cash, or by eftpos or credit card.

 No GST is payable.  No telephone or online bidding is available. Bids from Absentee participants, preferably on the following form, should be sent by e-mail to [email protected] or by post, as noted, no later than the end of Wednesday 22nd September. Please specify the lot number and the highest amount offered.

 Successful Absentee bidders will be notified. Despatch of the books won will occur as soon as the purchase price plus cost of delivery is received. Payment by bank deposit will be preferred, to an Account number given in the notice of success.
