The educational process consists of three levels with study programmes being continually upgraded and harmonised with recent scientific discoveries and economy needs. Scientific research is essential for the development of the Faculty. The Faculty actively participates in numerous domestic and international consortia used by the Faculty’s established research groups for conducting successful scientific research. The Faculty’s research groups have participated in nu- merous domestic and European projects as either heads or associates. Cooperation with the economy, encouragement of entrepreneurship and transfer of knowledge and technologies are fundamental indicators of the Faculty’s development. The Faculty successfully cooperates with the most important companies in the fields of electrical engineering, computer engineering and information and communication technologies. Cooperation with the economy has been supported by professional and development projects and research studies. Furthermore, do- ing their practical work, bachelor and master theses, students have gradually been prepared for the job market and solving real engineering problems. Undoubtedly, powerful faculties and universities are imperatives for the society’s development. In- formation and communication technology, electrical and computer engineering providing addi- tional values for new products and services represent strategic priorities for the development of modern economies. Hence, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek continues to successfully fulfil its mission – provision of support for knowledge and technology-based economy.

Prirodni potencijal i korištenje resursa a) Poljoprivredne površine Obnovljivi prirodni resursi su najznačajnija prirodna bogatstva Hrvatske, a među njih se ubraja i poljoprivredno zemljište. U ukupnoj količini poljoprivrednog zemljišta Osječko-baranjske županije Grad Osijek sudjeluje s 4,6%. Poljoprivredne površine Grada Osijeka obuhvaćaju 71% ukupne površine Grada Osijeka. Poljoprivredne površine u Osječko-baranjskoj županiji i Gradu Osijeku Tablica OBŽ ha Grad Osijek ha Udio % Ukupne površine 415.241 16.974 4,1 Poljoprivredne površine 260.778 12.121 4,6 Izvor podataka: RH, OBŽ, Izvješće ureda za statistiku - 1997. b) Šumske površine Šume kao jedini prirodni samoobnovljivi resurs proglašene s Ustavom kao dobro od općeg interesa za Republiku Hrvatsku. Prema Zakonu o šumama, šume i šumsko zemljište dobra su od općeg interesa i ona su najvećim dijelom u državnom vlasništvu. Gospodarenje je povjereno poduzeću "Hrvatske šume" P.O. Zagreb. Gospodarenje obuhvaća uzgajanje šuma, iskorištavanje šuma i šumskog zemljišta, sporednih šumskih proizvoda, te izgradnju i održavanje šumskih prometnica. Na području Grada Osijeka šumama gospodari Uprava šuma Osijek, Šumarija Osijek. U ukupnoj površini šumskog zemljišta Osječko-baranjske županije, Grad Osijek sudjeluje s 0,9%, Šumom je pokriveno 5,6% prostora Grada Osijeka, a pošumljenost Osječko-baranjske županije je 27%.     57 Opskrba prirodnim plinom Grad je podijeljen u tri zone opskrbe. U zoni MRS Osijek 1 - glavni distribucijski plinovod ø 10" za industrijsku zonu Zeleno polje i plinovod za grad ø 8". U zoni MRS Osijek 2 - glavni distribucijski plinovod za grad ø 12". U zoni MRS Osijek 3 - glavni distribucijski plinovod za grad ø 12" i ø 10" Prigradska naselja spojena su na slijedeće MRS-e: • MRS Osijek 1 plinovod ø 8" - Sarvaš • MRS Osijek 2 plinovod ø 6" - Podravlje, Tenja i Tvrđavica • MRS Osijek 3 plinovod ø 8" - Brijest, Briješće, Josipovac, Višnjevac. Plinoopskrbni sustav u Osijeku izgrađen je u dužini od cca 377.243 m ili 98% a na njega je priključeno 22.462 kućanstva ili 54%. Plinovod je položen u zemlju na dubini od 0,8 - 1,3 m u javnim površinama (uglavnom u zelenom pojasu) s obje strane ulice. Postojeći plinovod izgrađen je od PE- HD cijevi i čeličnih cijevi. b) Elektroenergetika Elektroenergetska infrastruktura na području Grada Osijeka obuhvaća proizvodnju, prijenos i distribuciju električne energije. Proizvodnja električne energije Proizvodnja električne energije za elektroenergetski sustav postoji samo u gradu Osijeku u TE-TO Osijek koja je u okviru HEP-a, a proizvodne značajke TE-TO su: • Električna snaga Toplinski parno turbinski blok Waagner Biro, Austria – TPK Jugoturbina – Končar – 1985. god 45 MW • Dva plinsko turbinska agregata AEG – Kanis, Njemačka – 1976. god. 50 MW Cjelokupna proizvodnja predaje se u elektroenergetski sustav iz kojeg se uzimaju potrebne količine električne energije. Prijenos električne energije Prijenos električne energije na području Grada Osijeka ostvaruje se prijenosnim sustavom 110 kV koji je u Domovinskom ratu znatno oštećen.
