Halo: The Fall of Reach is a military science fiction novel by Eric Nylundset in the Halo universeand acts as a prelude to Halo: Combat Evolvedthe first game in the series. The book was released in October and is the first Halo novel. It takes place in the 26th century across several planets and locations. The novel was written in seven weeks, Nylund's shortest writing deadline. The book was well received by critics, who thought it added depth to the plot of the game, but the large number of characters was highlighted as a shortcoming. Going on to sell over one million copies, the success of The Fall of Reach paved the way for further Xbox game novelizations, including another book in the Halo series. William C. Dietz would write the next book, entitled Halo: The Flood. The book was adapted into a comic series entitled Halo: Fall of Reachreleased in The book itself was re-released on December 7, after the comic book adaptation and contained new content as well as updating both editing mistakes and minor continuity errors. The novel was also adapted into an animated series that was streamed exclusively through the Halo Channel to coincide with the release of Halo 5: Guardians. It's an explanation and backstory of the shaping and creation of SpartanThe Master Chief. It all felt like someone Halo: Fall Of Reach up all the scenes from a game to make a story. I asked myself if it were fan made. The Halo: Fall Of Reach wasn't only weak, it was slow. The whole thing's an hour long, but at what I consider normal speed, it's probably more like 45 minutes. I watched at 2x and it was OK. Also there were some scenes that were perfect candidates for eye candy, like the explosions of ships and the fights. They had no budget for those. Now, about the story, it's an origin story of this character in a game called Halo that I have never played or seen played, so I can only comment on it as an independent thing. Young children are abducted and turned into supersoldiers just in time to fight an aggressive alien species. I don't know why they called it The Fall or Reach, since nothing fell. Just as I was getting invested in the story the film ended. Bottom line: nothing spectacular, not in terms of production or storyline, but it is an animation probably made using a game engine for a novel written for that game. What did you expect?
