"FUTBALLE ANYONE?" The game of soccer in 11th century England is recognized in many sports circles as the beginning of football. Generally, the "futballe" was actually an inflated animal bladder, frequently that of a pig. Hence the name "pigskin". Today's ball is standardized at 11 to 11 Y2 inches in length, 21 'l::i to 21\12 inches around the middle. It is inflated to a pressure of 12Yz to 13Yz pounds, weighs 14 to 15 ounces. Daylight games require a natural tan colored ball. Night games, a white or colored ball, with or without stripes may be used if both teams agree. WHAT'S THE NUMBER?
