Later, in my early 20's, when I was living in Australia, a friend of mine owned two beautiful Afghans, so when I came back to UK, I bought my Afghan – this was in 1971 and that started my hobby of showing and judging. I bred two successful litters of Afghans but decided breeding dogs wasn't for me and I preferred the showing and judging aspect. My then husband and I also owned and showed two Otterhounds when they were still a rare breed, the older of which sired the first two litters at the well known Kingstree Kennels of Judith and John Ashworth.
