Mrs Linda Worthy (Khelin)

My family has always owned dogs and when I was growing up, we had a Poodle and a Scottish Terrier and I fell in love with during my teens when I was introduced to two Afghan Hounds which were owned by a friend of my family. Later, in my early 20's, when I was living in Australia, a friend of mine owned two beautiful Afghans, so when I came back to UK, I bought my Afghan – this was in 1971 and that started my hobby of showing and judging. I bred two successful litters of Afghans but decided breeding dogs wasn't for me and I preferred the showing and judging aspect. My then husband and I also owned and showed two when they were still a rare breed, the older of which sired the first two litters at the well known Kingstree Kennels of Judith and John Ashworth. I first awarded CCs in Afghans in 1999 and have judged them in several countries. I first awarded CCs in Otterhounds in 2001 and I judged the Otterhounds at Crufts in 2015.

I bought my first Borzoi in 1987 – this was Manitias Zavi Rooshka of Khelin, he was awonderful character and a great introduction to the breed: then came several others over the years from Margaret Manning including Manitias Kazaviyna of Khelin, born in 1988, and jointly owned with my close friend, Lyn Hewson. The last Manitias that I owned, also in joint ownership with Lyn and Paul Hewson, was Manitias Kalanisi of Khelin, born in 2000 and died a few weeks before her 13th birthday. She also was a wonderful character and there are many tales to be told of her exploits. My first Borzoi from the Borscana Kennels, Borscana Black Horizon, was born in 2005 and since then I have owned several more and at the present time have three – Int/Swe/Fin/Dan/Ch Borscana Indestructible; Borscana Excessive, who is now 11 years old and Borscana Aurora, the latest addition. I judged Borzoi for the first time in 1988 and awarded my first set of CCs in 2006. My my first overseas appointment was at the Swedish Borzoi Club in 2002 and since 2002 I have judged Borzoi in several countries, including the Australian Nationals; also twice in Moscow, twice in Sweden, three times in Belgium, and in Finland, also at the Donaueschingen Festival in Germany and at the Sighthound Show in France. I have also judged two Specials in Germany.

I feel privileged to have been asked to judge at the Borzoi Club Championship Show and I am looking forward to it very much. Linda Worthy

Your dog is vulnerable and at risk during hot weather and the Kennel Club offers the following guidance to help guide you through the do’s and don’ts travelling to and whilst at KC licensed events. • When travelling to a show please take a moment to consider whether the route to the show is on a busy holiday route, and leave earlier to avoid increased time in traffic jams. • If your vehicle is not air-conditioned seriously consider whether travelling to the show is a good idea at all. • The vehicle should be as fully ventilated as possible, and plenty of stops should be taken, with lots of water available to drink. • Ensure your dog is not sitting in full sunlight. There should be plenty of free flowing air around the dog. • When at the show, never leave your dog in the vehicle. • Keep the dog in the shade - take your own shade for example a large umbrella and always have plenty of water available to drink so your dog stays well hydrated. • Avoid your dog taking part in unnecessary exertion, or from standing in exposed sunlight for extended lengths of time. Remember, if you feel hot your dog is very likely to feel much hotter and dehydrated, and this could lead to dire results. Please look after your dog’s welfare. WARNING: IF YOUR DOG IS FOUND TO BE AT RISK FORCIBLE ENTRY TO YOUR VEHICLE MAY BE NECESSARY WITHOUT LIABILITY FOR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED. 17. Anyone whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not put a dog’s health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. Breach of Kennel Club Regulations in this respect may be referred to the Board for disciplinary action under the Kennel Club Rules and Regulations. The use of pinch collars, electronic shock collars, or prong collars, is not permitted at any show licensed by the Kennel Club. This shall apply at the venue or within the precincts of the show. 18. Not for Competition entries will be accepted. Details of each dog so entered must be recorded on the entry form and must be Kennel Club registered. 19. No modifications will be made to this Schedule except by permission of the Board of the Kennel Club, which will be followed by advertisement in the Canine Press wherever possible. 20. All entries must be posted on or before Friday, 6th September 2019 (Postmark). If acknowledgement of entries is required a stamped addressed postcard must be enclosed. Should any Judge be prevented from fulfilling his/her engagement, the Committee reserve the right to appoint another Judge or Judges in their place. Exhibitors may withdraw from competition but no entry fees can be returned. 24. Every exhibitor shall ensure that whilst the dog is being exhibited, its handler shall display the correct ring number. 30. Should any question arise not provided for in these regulations, the decision of the Committee is final, subject to appeal to the Kennel Club. 31.
