Thirteen samplings were performed at 8 stations in 2012 (seven samplings), 2014 (four), and 2015 (two). The collection of the mollusks in each station was done at a maximum depth of 5 m for 1 h by 3 divers. A total of 2086 specimens belonging to 89 species, 36 families, and 3 classes of mollusks were identified. Gastropoda was the most diverse and abundant group. Calyptreaidae, Columbellidae, and Muricidae had >5 species, but Pisaniidae, Conidae, Fasciolariidae, and Muricidae had ≥15% of relative abundance. Most species found in this study were recorded in the rocky intertidal zone, and 10 species were restricted to the rocky subtidal zone. The affinity in the composition of the species during 2012–2015 had a low similarity (25%), but we could differentiate natural and anthropogenic effects according to malacological composition. -

A review of the literature added another 37 species reliably recorded from the archipelago, bringing the total muricid fauna of Fiji to 95 species. Twenty-fi ve species, including 14 shared with Fiji, are reported from Tonga. Bouchetia n. gen. is described for Poirieria (Paziella) vaubanensis Houart, 1986, originally described from New Caledonia and now recorded from Fiji. Conchatalos spinula n. sp. and Prototyphis gracilis n. sp. are described from Fiji; Murexsul merlei n. sp. is described from Fiji and Tonga. Attiliosa caledonica (Jousseaume, 1881), formerly treated as a synonym or subspecies of Attiliosa nodulifera (Sowerby, 1841), is recognized as a valid species, as both species co-occur in Fiji without intermediates. Pascula ambonensis Houart, 1996, Tritonidea lefevreiana Tapparone Canefri, 1880 and Pentadactylus paucimaculatus Sowerby, 1903 are reclassifi ed in Cytharomorula Kuroda, 1953. RÉSUMÉ Gastéropodes Muricidae des îles Fidji et Tonga. Cinquante-huit espèces de Muricidae (Coralliophilinae exceptés), dont 3 nouvelles, ont été récoltées au cours de récentes expéditions aux îles Fidji. Un examen critique de la littérature indique la présence crédible dans cet archipel de 37 espèces additionnelles, ce qui porte à 95 le nombre d’espèces de Muricidae maintenant connues de Fidji. -

A több mint 50 fajt tartalmazó anyag a badeni Pannóniai- medence északi és nyugati részéből, a Börzsöny, a Bakony és a Mecsek hegységből származik. Bánd kora-badeni faunája különleges figyelemre tarthat igényt egy faj, a Janssenia echinulata (PUSCH) szokatlan gyakorisága miatt. Mecsekpölös - kén a Favartia suboblonga (D’ORBIGNY), míg Hidas térségében egy középső-badeni feltárás faunájában az Ocinebrina confluens (EICHWALD) faj jelenik meg más lelőhelyekhez képest tömeges előfordulásban. Néhány ritka species szélesebb ősföldrajzi elterjedése mellett nyolc faj: Bolinus brandaris torularius (LAMARCK), Dermomurex scalaroides (BLAINVILLE), Pterynotus pseuderinaceus (BOETTGER), Ocinebrina landaui KOVÁCS, Pteropurpura friedbergi (COSS MANN & PEYROT), Phyllocoma michelottii (BELLARDI), Coralliophila sacyi (COSSMANN & PEYROT), C. serraticincta BAŁUK, valamint egy tropho nine nemzetség, a Pterynopsis új magyarországi előfordulása dokumentálható a vizsgált anyag alapján. Egy új faj, Ocinebrina bertai n. sp. is bevezetésre kerül a bándi középső-miocén lelőhelyről. Tárgyszavak: miocén, badeni, Muricidae, Középső-Paratethys, Pannóniai-medence Abstract The aim of this paper is to contribute to a better understanding of the actual diversity of the Early – Middle Badenian (Langhian; middle Miocene) gastropods from the Central Paratethys. This will be attempted by presenting seven Muricidae assemblages including more than 50 species from the northern and western part of the Pannonian Basin System (Börzsöny, Bakony and Mecsek Mts, Hungary). -

These, for the most part, have been published in Tulane Cirsotrema (Cirsotremopsis) dalli Rehder, 1945 Studies in Geology and Paleontology, Scalina gardnerae Olsson, 1967 either in generic monographs or in the series entitled "Notes on the fauna of the HIPPONICIDAE Chipola Formation." As a conclusion to this series and to the journal as a whole, a Rothpletzia fioridana H. Vokes, 1982 final compilation seems in order. Bemutatjuk a fajok rétegtani és ősföldrajzi elterjedését. Közelmúltbeli terepmunkák, valamint a Magyar Természet - tudományi Múzeum gyűjteménye alapján egy új faj, Lautoconus harzhauseri KOVÁCS nov. sp. is leírásra került. Tárgyszavak: Gastropoda, Paratethys, kainozoos, lutetiai, egri, badeni Abstract In this paper 26 recently collected Cenozoic marine gastropod species from Hungary are briefly described. Two Lutetian (Eocene), two Egerian (Oligocene) and 22 Badenian (Miocene) species are represented; most of them are newly- recorded, while others are illustrated for the first time as being present in Hungary. The extended stratigraphic and palaeogeographic ranges of the respective species are summarized and a new taxon is introduced: Lautoconus harzhauseri KOVÁCS nov. sp. Miller Abstract Conventionally, spines on bivalves and other organisms are thought to serve an antipredatory function; however, this has been tested minimally for epifaunal bivalves, and completed research is contradictory. It is possible that spines do not serve an antipredatory function directly, but provide a substrate for epibionts, those organisms that encrust the outer surface of the bivalve’s shell. Although potentially harmful, coverage by epibionts would benefit the bivalve by concealing it from potential predators. The first portion of this project examined the mechanical behavior of crushed spined and un- spined shells of one epifaunal bivalve (Spondylus regius) in order to ascertain if spines increase the amount of work or force required to fail a shell, elucidating a potential protective function of the spines. A second study demonstrated that epibiont acquisition on various morphologies (including spined, ribbed and smooth varieties) of epifaunal bivalve shells is differential with respect to epibiont species richness and percent coverage.
