Strong red Cannonau, or Nepente di Oliena ĂƌĞŚŝŐŚůLJƌĞĐŽŵŵĞŶĚĞĚ͘ƌLJsĞƌŵĞŶƟŶŽ di Sardegna has a clean mineral taste and is amazingly delicious chilled. In the Mediterranean Sea, both the sea urchin Paracentrotus lividus and fish preying on it are highly valuable target species for artisanal fisheries. As a consequence of the interactions between fish, sea urchins and macrophyte, fishing leads to trophic disorders with detrimental consequences for biodiversity and fisheries. In Sardinia (Western Mediterranean Sea), regulations for sea urchin harvesting have been in place since the mid 90s. However, given the important ecological role of P. lividus, the single-species fishery management may fail to take into account important ecosystem interactions. Milano, 153 (I): 135-140, Aprile 2012 Note e Comunicazioni Giovanni Pasini*, Antonio De Angeli** & Alessandro Garassino*** Calappa praelata Lőrenthey in Lőrenthey & Beurlen, 1929 (Decapoda, Brachyura, Calappidae) from the Middle Miocene of Tresnuraghes (Oristano, Sardegna, Italy) Abstract - We report Calappa praelata Lőrenthey in Lőrenthey & Beurlen, 1929 (Calappidae De Haan, 1833), based upon one single carapace, three-dimensionally preserved, from the Middle Miocene of Tresnuraghes (Oristano, Sardegna, Italy). It is the first record of this species in Sardegna and Italian territory, enlarging the knowledge of distribution and its stratigraphic range in the paleo- Mediterranean basin. The species is already known from Middle-Upper Miocene of Hungary, Poland, Austria, Malta, and Spain. Key words: Decapoda, Brachyura, Calappidae, Middle Miocene, Sardegna, Italy. Riassunto - Calappa praelata Lőrenthey in Lőrenthey & Beurlen, 1929 (Decapoda, Brachyura, Calappidae) nel Miocene medio di Tresnuraghes (Oristano, Sardegna, Italia). Si tratta della prima segnalazione di questa specie in Sardegna e in Italia. Questo ritrovamento amplia le conoscenze sulla sua distribuzione areale e stratigrafica nel bacino paleo-Mediterraneo.
