The Delaware Department of Transportation (DeiDOT), announces that a Public Hearing will be held for the proposed improvements to Porter Road from just north of Route 72 to just south of At. 40. The hearing will be held on July 21, 1997 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Glasgow ~-..::;;..,...... ;..;....;..;.;;.;...... ;.._...... ;...... ;..o Medical Center, Room 209 (upstairs), 2600 Summit Bridge Road, Newark, DE. DeiDOT representatives will present plans for the reconstruction -of Porter Road. The proposed improvements include widening and/or reconstruction of Porter Road from 300' north of S.R. 72 to 500' south of At. 40. The proposed design consists of two 12' travel lanes, 8' shoulders and left or right turn lanes where necessary. Drainage, storm water management, and minor improve­ ments to the intersection with Old Porter Road will also be included in the pro­ posed project. The tentative schedule for right-of-way acquisition will be presented at the hearing, as well the construction scheduling. The Open Forum hearing format will be used to solicit and record formal testimony. The open forum format provides interested persons with the oppor­ tunity to attend the hearing anytime during the four hour period and to submit formal testimony on an individual basis. A court reporter will Include all com­ ments in the transcript, or formal record of the proceedings. The Department suggests that speakers submit written versions of their statements so that the record of the hearing is as accurate as possible. Written statements and other exhibits may be made in place of, or in addition to, oral statements at the hearing.
