The capital of Croatia is Zagreb. Croatia boasts countless natural and cultural resources. There are even 8 National Parks, 11 Nature Parks and 7 monuments that have been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Due to its location, the climate in Croatia is divided into two zones - moderately continental and mediterranean climate. The highest peak of the mountain is Vaganski vrh. • National Park Plitvice Lakes is the most famous and oldest national park in Croatia. In 1949 it was proclaimed the first national park in Croatia, and due to its beauty and particularities of travertine barrier formation, in 1979 it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. More recently, the fort is known as the city of Meereen from the series "Game of Thrones". • Split is the largest Dalmatian city known for its rich cultural heritage and monuments, and especially for the Diocletian's Palace that the Emperor built to spend his last days there. The Palace is one of the best preserved monuments of Roman architecture in the world, which, together with the historic center of Split, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979. • Trogir is situated on an islet between the island of Čiovo and the mainland and they are connected by a stone bridge. It is considered the best preserved Romanesque-Gothic city. The whole city is full of cultural and historical monuments, which is why it is also called a museum city. The most famous are the Cathedral of St. Lawrence with its unique portal, well preserved walls, towers and city gates, as well as beautiful city palaces, numerous churches and monasteries. The city was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1997. • Nin is a small town near Zadar. Its old town is located on a small island connected to the mainland by two stone bridges. Nin is the oldest croatian royal city. In Nin is situated the smallest cathedral in the world, the church of St. Crisis. Nin is also recognizable for its medicinal mud that was used in Roman times, but also for the production of salt, which also dates back to Roman times.
