Tag: Willkommen im Ivato Flughafen - Transfer zum Hotel. Sie werden von einem deutschsprachigen Reiseleiter abgeholt und zum Hotel begleitet. Nach einem langen Flug können Sie sich im Hôtel Restaurant La Ribaudière Antananarivo erholen, 4- Sterne-Hotel. 2. Tag: Antananarivo - Antsirabe (168 km, ca. 4 Stunden) Nach dem Frühstück fahren wir nach Antsirabe. Die Fahrt dauert etwa 4 Stunden. Angekommen in Antsirabe, Sie können die Stadt Antsirabe entdecken und die Kultur der Ethnogruppe Vakinankaratra kennenlernen. Übernachtung im Plumeria-Hotel, 3-Sterne-Hotel. ANTSIRABE Antsirabe liegt 168 Km südlich von Antananarivo. Die Stadt und ihre Umgebung sind reich an Geschichte. Der Qualität ihrer Böden und Gewässer mit hoher Konzentration an Mineralsalzen stammt der Name Antsirabe, das bedeutet, "da, wo es viel Salz gibt". Sie ist auch die „Stadt des Wassers“ genannt, wo Sie sich seiner Bäder mit ihren therapeutischen Tugenden genießen können. Es gibt drei Seen in Umgebung: Tritriva, Andranomafana und Andraikiba. 3. Tag: Besuch von kleinen Dörfern Andraikiba, Tritriva und Betafo (ca. 60 km) Heute werden wir eine Nebenstraße entlang fahren. Nach dem Frühstück fahren wir nach Andraikiba. Dort werden wir die Schönheit des Sees genießen. Dann geht die Reise weiter nach Tritriva. In Tritriva werden wir im Restaurant-Hotel zu Mittag essen. Nach dem Mittagessen geht die Reise weiter nach Betafo. In Betafo werden wir den Tatamarina-See entdecken. Am Abend kehren wir nach Antsirabe zurück. Übernachtung im Hotel Plumeria, 3-Sterne-Hotel. ANDRAIKIBA Der Andraikiba-See liegt etwa 7 km westlich von Antsirabe. Sein Name stammt vom Schrei einer jungen schwangeren Frau, die dort während eines Schwimmwettkampfes mit ihrer Rivalin ertrank, organisiert von ihrem eigenen Mann. Dieser See ähnelt stark einem Kreis mit einem Umfang von 5 km, umgeben von einigen Baumpflanzen und den Überresten eines nautischen Komplexes aus der Kolonialzeit. TRITRIVA Der Tritriva-See ist ein vulkanischer See, der etwa 27 km von Antsirabe entfernt liegt und hat eine Form wie Madagaskar. Der Wasserspiegel des Sees sinkt während der Regenzeit und steigt an, wenn die Monsunregen aufgehört haben. Die Geschichte des Tritriva-Sees ist die Geschichte von Rabeniomby und Ravolahanta, zwei Liebenden, die wegen ihrer verbotenen Liebe im See Selbstmord begingen. Nach lokalen Legenden und Glaubensvorstellungen wurden nach dem Selbstmord der beiden verfluchten Liebenden ihre Seelen in den verschlungenen Stämmen eines Baumes dargestellt, der auf einem Felsen am Ufer des Sees wuchs. Sie würden bluten, wenn man sie abschneiden würde. BETAFO Betafo liegt 22 km westlich von Antsirabe. Es ist eine charmante Stadt, die mehr als einen Besucher verführen wird. Ein typisches Merina-Dorf, das auf Schmiedeeisen spezialisiert ist, aber auch eine landwirtschaftliche Berufung hat. Seine üppigen Reisfelder, seine Hochebenen mit Besteck aus verschiedenen Plantagen und die Lebensfreude der Bewohner haben den Charme dieses einzigartigen Reiseziels begründet. 4. Tag: Antsirabe - Miandrivazo (222 km, ca. 6 Stunden) Nach dem Frühstück geht unsere Reise weiter nach Miandrivazo. Die Stadt ist bekannt dafür, dass sie traditionell von Viehzüchter bewohnt wird. Heute werden wir eine außergewöhnlich schöne Landschaft mit vielen Bergen entdecken. Wir werden während unserer Reise eine Pause machen, damit Sie gute Panoramafotos machen können. Übernachtung Hotel "Princesse Tsiribihina" Miandrivazo, 3-Sterne- Hotel. MIANDRIVAZO Entdeckung der Höhepunkte von Zentral-Madagaskar mit Trockengebieten an der Westküste. Der Wes- ten ist ein trockenes Gebiet, aber mit oft reichlichen Regenfällen von Dezember bis März. Tag: Miandrivazo - Morondava (88 km, ca. 2 Stunden) Nach dem Frühstück fahren wir nach Morondava weiter. Während der Reise können Sie verschiedene kleine Dörfe entdecken. Die Route führt über die Nationalstraße 35 aus einer Entfernung von 88 km und die Fahrt dauert ca. 2 Stunden. Übernachtung im Chez magie Hotel, 3-Sterne-Hotel. 6. Tag: Besichtigung der Stadt Morondava Nach dem Frühstück machen wir einen Spaziergang durch diese Stadt, bei dem Sie etwas über das tägliche Leben der Bevölkerung erfahren können. Auch während des Besuchs haben Sie die Gelegenheit, die traditionellen Tänze des Sakalava de Menabe zu entdecken. Übernachtung im Chez magie Hotel, 3- Sterne-Hotel. MORONDAVA Die Stadt Morondava zeichnet sich durch ihre berühmte Allee der Affenbrotbäume (Baobab-Allee) aus, eine echte Allee der Affenbrotbäume, die erst im Juli 2007 als Naturdenkmal geschützt wurde. Morondava ist eine schöne Stadt, die es zu erkunden gilt, denn dort ist der Strand perfekt für einen schönen Ausflug. Alle Aktivitäten wie Tauchen, Jet-Ski fahren und mehr sind in Morondava möglich. Das Hotel ist auch sehr komfortabel und kann alle Bedürfnisse der Gäste befriedigen. Von Morondava aus können Sie viele Gemeinden über eine Nebenstraße erreichen. 7. Tag: Besuch des kleines Dorf Antsakamirohaka (7 km, ca. 30 Minuten) Nach dem Frühstück werden wir nach Antsakamirohaka fahren. Die Fahrt dauert ca. 30 Minuten und befindet sich auf einer Landstraße. Unterwegs können Sie das Leben und die Kultur von Sakalava de Menabe Ethno-Gruppe entdecken. Angekommen in Antsakamirohaka werden wir die interessante Kultur des kleinen Dorfes und der Einwohner entdecken. Am Abend kehren wir nach Morondava zurück. ANTSAKAMIROHAKA Antsakamirohaka ist ein kleines Dorf in Morondava, einer Gemeinde unweit von Morondava, das Sie besuchen können, um die Natur rund um Morondava zu erkunden. BELO SUR TSIRIBIHINA Der Tsiribihina ist ein Fluss, der von der zentralen Hochebene Madagaskars zur Westküste hinunter fließt. Eine Flussfahrt auf dem Tsiribihina und ein Besuch der so genannten Tsingy von Bemaraha sind sehr zu empfehlen. Dies ist wahrscheinlich eine der außergewöhnlichsten Erfahrungen oder Attraktionen, die Sie jemals in Madagaskar finden werden. 9. Tag: Exkursion in Belo sur Mer (80 km, ca. 3 Stunden) Nach dem Frühstück werden wir einen Ausflug in Belo sur Mer machen. Die Fahrt dauert ca. 3 Stunden. Belo sur Mer liegt 80 km entfernt von Morondava und man muss auf einer Landstraße fahren, um sie zu erreichen. Unterwegs werden Sie die Schönheit der Landschaft genießen. Angekommen in Belo sur Mer können Sie die Kultur des Dorfes und der Einwohner entdecken. Dort haben Sie auch die Möglichkeit zu tauchen. Am Abend kehren wir nach Morondava zurück. Übernachtung im Chez magie Hotel, 3-Sterne- Hotel. BELO SUR MER Belo sur Mer liegt 88 km südlich von Morondava am Kanal von Mosambik. Von Morondava aus dauert es etwa 3 Stunden mit dem Auto, um dieses Dorf in Vezo zu erreichen. Das Dorf mit seinen kleinen Häusern und Hütten liegt am Rande einer kleinen Lagune mit einem schönen Strand. Neun von Korallen gesäumte vorgelagerte Inseln bieten ausgezeichnete Möglichkeiten zum Schnorcheln und Tauchen. 10. Tag: Tsiribihina-Fluss-Tour Heute fahren Sie auf dem längsten Fluss in Madagaskar. Auf dem Weg zur Entdeckung des trockenen Waldes. Unter einem Wasserfall gibt es einen schönen Platz zum Schwimmen. Es ist möglich, dass Lemuren in dieser Zeit hier sein können.     FOMBANDRAZANA VEZO: ETHNIC IDENTITY AND SUBSISTENCE STRATEGIES AMONG COASTAL FISHERS OF WESTERN MADAGASCAR by EARL FURMAN SANDERS (Under the Direction of THEODORE GRAGSON) ABSTRACT The complex dynamic among coastal peoples of western Madagascar involves spread of cultural elements due to extensive seasonal migrations, tribes and ethnic groups merging into progressively broader ethnic groups, distinctions based on interethnic and intra-ethnic boundaries, and lumping of peoples with remotely similar subsistence patterns which has perpetuated ethnonym vagaries. This study analyzes the cultural bases of the Vezo, a group of marine fishers inhabiting the west coast of Madagascar, with the intent of presenting a clearer image of what is entailed within the ethnonym, Vezo, both with respect to subsistence strategies and cultural identity. Three broad areas of inquiry, ethnohistory, ecological niche as understood from the Eltonian definition, and geographical scope inform the field research. Access to these areas leans heavily on oral histories, which in turn is greatly facilitated by intensive participant observation and work in the native language. The analysis shows that the Vezo constitute a distinct ethnic group composed of diverse named patrilineal descent groups. This ethnic group is defined by common origins and a shared sense of common history, which along with the origins of the taboos are maintained within their oral histories. Within the ethnonym, Vezo, there are subsistence as well as other cultural distinctions, most notably the taboos. These distinctions are the bases of the ethnic boundaries separating those who belong to the Vezo cultural group and others who are referred to as Vezo (Vezom-potake and Vezo-loatse) due to geographical disposition.

L’analyse de la déforestation pour les années 1990 et 2000 a été fournie par Conservation International. MINISTERE DE L’ENVIRONNEMENT, DES FORETS ET DU TOURISME Le présent document est un rapport du Ministère de l’Environnement, des Forêts et du Tourisme (MEFT) sur l’état de de l’évolution de la couverture forestière naturelle à Madagascar entre 1990, 2000, et 2005. Ce rapport a été préparé par Conservation International. Par ailleurs, les personnes suivantes (par ordre alphabétique) ont apporté leur aimable contribution pour sa rédaction: Andrew Keck, James MacKinnon, Norotiana Mananjean, Sahondra Rajoelina, Pierrot Rakotoniaina, Solofo Ralaimihoatra, Bruno Ramamonjisoa, Balisama Ramaroson, Andoniaina Rambeloson, Rija Ranaivosoa, Pierre Randriamantsoa, Andriambolantsoa Rasolohery, Minoniaina L.     CYCLONES ERIC and FANELE - Flash Situation Report No. 2 Antananarivo, 5 February 2009 The following situational report has been prepared by the OCHA support mission to the Office of the Resident Coordinator in Madagascar It is largely based on the information provided by the National Office for Disasters and Risks Management (BNGRC) of the Government of Madagascar as well as UN Agencies and NGOs. HIGHLIGHTS · Cyclones Eric and Fanele in numbers: 12 dead; 33 injured; 54,493 disaster victims; 4,012 homeless; 9,712 damaged homes; 2,965 h of flooded rice paddies. Tropical storm Eric impacted the district of Mandritsara the most; while cyclone Fanele took the heaviest toll on the districts of Morondava, Manja and Beroroha, as well as the municipality of Belo sur Mer. · The National Disaster Management Authority (BNGRC) is continuing the distribution of relief items in region Menabe. BNGRC’s Execuitive Secretary visited the area to personally supervise the operation. · The results of the aerial survey conducted by BNGRC, CARE, CRS and USAID the day after the passage of Fanele in regions Menabe and Atsimo Andrefana reaveal 60-70% damage of varying degrees sustained to houses in the zone between Belo sur Mer and Manometimay. In Morondava, 25-30% of private homes and 60% of public buildings show damage of varying degrees. · Relief operations are taking place in the context of the current political volatility in Madagascar, which resulted in massive street protests, violence and looting in the week of 26 January[1]. In Antananarivo significant material damage has been done to shops, markets and other businesses.

Ces traits rendent compte d'une particularité propre aUX territOires, de l'Ouest, ici, oomme ailleurs, les groupes humains sont fi%és au sol, mais cetto insertion est précaire, fragile et cela m8me dans les rêgions qUi appa­ raissent le plus humanisées.     DISTRIBUTION OF THE MALAGASY LEMURS PART 2: LEMUR CATTA AND LEMUR FULVUS IN SOUTHERN AND WESTERN MADAGASCAR* Robert W. Sussman Department ofAnthropology Washington University St. Louis, Missouri 631 30 This report is the result of surveys conducted in southern and western Mada- gascar during an 18-month field study (September 1969-November 1970) and two 3-month studies (June-August, 1973 and 1974). Thirty-three separate forests were surveyed in which Lemur catta and/or Lemur fulvus were found. The surveys were conducted to determine (1) the northern and southern limits of the distribution of the two species, (2) precisely where the ranges of the two species overlap, and (3) whether the dispersion of populations within the area of overlap revealed any difference in habitat preferences between the species. The forests surveyed extend from Berenty in the south to the area near Majunga in the northwest (TABLE1; FIGURES1-3). Sixteen of these forests are in the area in which the ranges of L. catta and L. f. rufus overlap. All of the forests listed in TABLE 1 were extensively surveyed, and the list of the diurnal species is inclusive. GEOGRAPHICALDISTRIBUTION Populations of Lemur fulvus rufus and Lemur catta are found in the western and southern regions of Madagascar. L. f. rufus occurs in the west and southwest and L. catta in the southwest and south (FIGURE1). Previously, knowledge of the distribution of these species was based mainly on early reports (summarized by Hill1). I have tried to enhance this knowledge through the use of literature not available to Hill and by conducting extensive surveys of certain regions within the total range of the two species.
