www.ocphc.org April, May, June 2015 The Purpose of The Party OCPHC Works for Many Worthy Causes!

The Orange County Parrot Head Club has been busy over the past few months donating their time, energy, needed items and dollars to many of our very worthy charities. In April, The OCPHC did back to back days walking in the MS Walk in Irvine and then working at the Ronald McDonald House Walk in Anaheim. Our club raised $3,589 for Multiple Sclerosis research on Saturday and then passed out water bottles to the participants of the Ronald McDonald House Walk on Sunday.

At our Phlocking in May at Lopez & Lefty’s in Anaheim, The OCPHC collected laundry detergent and dryer sheets for The Ronald McDonald House and also held a raffle, with the proceeds going to The Marine Mammal Group. Joe Chockrek and OCPHC Members June found us at The Newport Harbor Elks Lodge where we held our Proudly Display Their Sign Post annual Yard Sale and Mini Mart. The club cleaned out their closets for on the MS Walk Route charity. From foam fin hats to brand new Hawaiian shirts, the merchandise was welcomed and was selling as quick as it arrived. Another worthy charity, The Royal Therapeutic Residential Center, In This Issue received dozens of shoes donated by the club. Club Feature—Bob Karwin Bob Karwin began his music career in Boston, Massachusetts on June 4, 1990, playing to drunken mobs in the Irish pubs and college bars. He quickly made a name for himself in Beantown by being able to tame an unruly crowd fired by Guinness and Jack Daniels using only his guitar and a microphone. In 1993, Bob packed up his Jeep and moved to sunny San Diego. His blend of humor and thoughtful songwriting struck a chord with Southern Californians and he began to develop a following at his rowdy one man shows. Bob has played along side of many members of ’s band, the Coral Reefers, including Greg “Fingers” Taylor, Amy Lee, Bob Karwin Deb McColl, T.C. Mitchell, Doyle Grisham, and Jay Spell. He has been a featured act at many national “parrothead” events, including Phins to the West (Laughlin, NV), Migration (Las Vegas, NV) and Meeting of Minds (Key West, FL). Newest Isla Nublar Destroyed by Dinosaurs

Isla Nublar Margaritaville Grand Opening is Short Lived. The joint venture between Margaritaville and Jurassic World came to a an abrupt halt as an Indominus Rex Breakout destroyed the newest Jimmy Buffett theme restaurant. The beautiful new eatery was the featured restaurant on Main Street of Jurassic World. The venue featured the familiar Porch of Indecision overlooking the Jurassic World Lagoon and 5 O Clock Somewhere Bar. The bar was manned by Jimmy Bufett himself and he could be seen running down the street during the breakout yelling “Save The Margaritas!” Isla Nublar merchandise can still be ordered at www.margaritaville.com. There are no plans to re-open the restaurant.

Jimmy Releases New Single, ‘The Ever Elusive Future’ on ITunes. Talks About The Future of His Music

In an interview with the Macomb Daily ahead of his Detroit show, Jimmy Buffett talks about how the internet has changed the way fans get their music and how he himself might get new music to fans. “Will we do another album? I don’t know the answer to that,” Buffett, 68, says by phone. “We’re just trying to find the system where the next batch of new music goes. It’s certainly not like it was when I started out, or for most of my career, for that matter.” Yet Buffett acknowledges he’s still a fan of the traditional album, and he’s confident his fans feel the same way. “For me, an album is just about adding something; if you like this, you can add it to the collection,” he explains. “I’m not out there trying to win hits or chase Grammys or (stuff) like that. I’m just trying to stay in the game at our lev- el.”Buffett sees the potential for using the digital world to his advantage, too — such as live or filmed streams of him and the band in the studio working on new music, and possibly investing the Parrot- heads in the process.“We can have ’em in there watching us make it, and they can say what songs they want — that’s the kind of thing I’m looking at,” he says. He also hopes that seeing an album being made will make fans more apt to actually buy it when it comes out. OCPHC Headquarters Lopez & Lefty’s in Anaheim Join Us for a Phlocking Good Time!
