Traveling With Virginia ocphc.org 4 The 10 Stages of Becoming A Parrot Head 1. Who the hell is Jimmy Buffet? Oh that guy who did (choose one) a. Margaritaville b. Cheeseburger in Paradise c. Come Monday 2. Oh it's with two "t's”? Buys "Songs You Know by Heart" because you heard "that one song" at a party. You start hearing all about the wild concerts and openly declare to the world that you are a Parrot Head. Goes out and buys that Hawaiian shirt you wanted all your life, or at least since last week. 3. Look at me, I'm a Parrot Head! Goes to a Jimmy Buffett concert and is amazed by all things Parrot Head. You loved the show but can't remember any of it through the alcoholic haze. 4. One Particular Parrot Decide you should buy a few more albums so that the old timers will stop laughing at you when Jimmy plays "One Particular Harbour" and say "that's a great song, I've never heard it.” 5. Domino College You buy the box set so you don't have to buy all the old albums. Still get laughed at or ignored because you’ve never heard "Migration" and "Cowboy in The Jungle". The good news is you know "Fins" well enough to move your hands the right way at the concert. 6. Buffett is God Starts collecting the albums, buys a couple more Hawaiian shirts, maybe even a coconut bra. Have two concert tees, and a copy of A Pirate Looks At Fifty. Suddenly have a burning need to find out all that is Buffett. “Margaritaville has a lost verse?!?” Considers Buffett to be GOD, 'though you’ve never heard the song "God's Own Drunk". Actually believes Buffett is a beach bum. You join an official PHIP Club and learn how to Party With a Purpose. NOTE: Some people never get passed this stage… 7. Say it Ain't so Jimmy. You are reading everything there is on Buffett and are getting a little disillusioned. You are closing your ears and screaming "say it ain't so!" when people criticize your "hero". No one stays at this stage for very long. You either punt and return to Stage 6 or move to Stage 8. 8. Screw Buffett... Accuse Buffett of being a heretic, Accuse him of selling out. All the concerts sound the same. Screw Buffett! This is also a dead end stage for many fans. Complains about concerts and new albums being commercial and every other money grubbing venture Mr. Margaritaville is wrapped up in. Hate it when your non- parrot head friends label you a parrot head. “I prefer Trop Rock!” 9. My name is ...... and I listen to Buffett music. You come to the realization that Buffett is human, and deal with it, with the help of other Buffett fans or some internal strength. Understands the myth, and to some degree, the man who created it and finds compromise somewhere between stage 6 and stage 8. Can't buy anymore albums because you have them all, already. Enjoys the music for what it represents, which is why you bought it in the first place and ignore all the other bullshit as best as possible, without forsaking your own moral standards. 10. If you reach stage nine and still continuously listen to Buffett and enjoy the concerts and the lifestyle then you, my friend, are a Parrot Head. ocphc.org 5 February Landshark Luau With Jerry Gontang Benefits The Lone Palm Foundation ocphc.org 6 28th Annual Meeting of The Minds 2019 “License To Chill” October 30th - Nov 2nd Casa Marina Resort - Key West Florida The 28th Annual PHIP Meeting of The Minds will be held in Key West Florida , October 30th thru November 2nd 2019. • Parrot Head Members Survived the Winter and Are Ready to Fly Into Some Sunny Warm Weather
Issue #26 Winter 2012 Business Tagline or Motto HELLO from the President's Perch CONTENTS : By the time this edition arrives, we will be almost through what has been a mild winter. I hope all of our Parrot Head members survived the winter and are ready to fly into some sunny warm weather. Things were certainly not mild or cold in our Berks County Parrot Head Club. Christmas in the Caribbean 2 In December we hosted another successful Toys for Tots party at the Christmas in the Caribbean Spruce and delivered more toys and cash to the Marines than any prior Afterparty 3 year. Things heated up even more with the 4th annual Christmas show Cabin Fever Festival 4 at the Miller Center on December 17th. The Club Trini band (Michael Photomontage I 5 Utley and Robert Greenidge) was enjoyed by all. Jimmy and the Parrots entertained almost 200 members and guests at the after party (in the Viva lounge) that included a “Quick Licks” featuring buffet and a few drinks. Through your efforts and your support of the show we raised $14,000 for Robert Greenidge 6 Crime Alert Berks. Toys for Tots 7 Winter Cabin Fever was next, and Berks Encore was the chosen charity this year. In our In Memoriam 7 efforts to make each event better than the one before, we changed a few things from 2011. Trivia 8 Thanks to the great support from Crowne Plaza and general manager Craig Poole, we held the Phledgling Phlockers 9 event on a Saturday Night for the first time.

ONE PARTICULAR NEWSLETTER The Ophicial Publication of the Orange County Parrot Head Club Partying with a purpose for over 20 years! www.ocphc.org December 2016 Last Mango in Irvine for Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefer Band played for the last time at The Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Irvine on Saturday, October 22nd. The OCPHC was the national host for The Last Mango in Irvine Party. Word of the party went out on the club Facebook page and a pre-concert tailgate was planned near the event. Several club members joined the official Club RV to help prepare for the party. Much to our surprise, more than 10 additional RVs from all across the country joined us to get ready and gear up for the concert. Our old friend Jimmy Groovy showed up in costume and added to the pre-concert fun. Once inside the parking lot, Jerry Gontang played to the huge crowd In This Issue around the OCPHC event site. A.J.’s famous Cheeseburgers in Paradise were on the grill all were partying just like Bubba does in Pg 1: Last Mango in Irvine preparation for the concert. Once inside the venue, Jimmy and the CRB did not disappoint. The 26 song set included a tribute to Jimmy’s Pg 2: Andy’s Irvine Letter friend, Glenn Frey of The Eagles, who recently passed away. The show concluded in appropriate fashion with an acoustic version Pg 3: Tilleritaville of Lovely Cruise. Several club members related to the fact that they saw the first and last Buffett shows at Irvine Pg 4-7: Tales From MOTM Meadows.

November 21, 2011 Issue 270 Inside The Awards: Robert Deaton Just shy of two weeks since the 45th Annual CMA Awards, Country Aircheck spoke with Executive Producer Robert Deaton for his thoughts on the telecast, how it all came together and several of its memorable moments. CA: You’ve had some time to process the show and maybe decompress. What are your Robert Deaton thoughts in hindsight? RD: A lot of credit needs to be passed around because there are so many people – starting with the artists – who make it happen, but I feel like this was our best effort. Going into the show, what I really wanted to do was not compromise at all with Pub Scouts: EMI Nashville’s Eric Church buddies up with the backstage crowd at last week’s Chief Deconstructed show at Joe’s Pub in Chicago. Pictured (l-r) are any of the performances. I wanted each one to put the artist in the label’s Chuck Swaney and Angela Lange, Church, and WUSN’s Marci Braun, the best possible position. Bama Breeze Jimmy’s latest CD is scheduled to be released on October 10. Award winning bassist Glenn Worf, Mobile native Will Kimbrough, Little Feats’ Billy Payne, and Party At The End Of The World slide guitar master Sonny Landreth joined Jimmy and the resident Coral Weather With You Reefers in Key West last February at what was then the Party At The End Of The World. We knew better than to refer to it as such so early, but it Everybody's On The Phone was a working title. In between fishing and boating trips, and sampling the Whoop De Doo keys culinary offerings, “should I spend time on the treadmill or eat at Hogfish,” Jimmy and his talented troop started the “party” that ended as Nothin' But A Breeze “weather” in Mac McAnally’s studio in Muscle Shoals. Cinco De Mayo In Memphis All the talent trapped in the old ice house on Key West’s historic waterfront Reggabilly Hill set the substance for the new recording, and the style was added by Mac and Mr. Utley. Meanwhile, Jimmy was overseas watching World Cup soccer and Elvis Presley Blues hanging with Mark Knopfler – not exactly dire straits. A video was filmed last Hula Girl At Heart summer for the song “Bama Breeze” and Jimmy told the Boston Globe’s Steve Morse, “It's a tribute to those honky-tonks that line the Gulf Coast where Wheel Inside The Wheel I grew up on the Alabama, Mississippi, Florida coast of the Gulf. It's about Silver Wings the infamous Flora-Bama bar.
