The d 6-9 Individual Competitions Italian Federation (FIP) and FIBA have been running at high speed for the past RULES IN 10 Schedule/Info two months, when we decided to organize this event. The decision to hold such an event was done with the intention to motivate our 11 Venue layout national member federations to embrace 3x3 as a new discipline. The response WOR to the invitation to register has been overwhelming: 40 countries from all conti- 12-19 Girls Rosters nents and 240 athletes are attending the Championship. The ultimate goal for the basketball family is to become the most popular sports community altogether 20-32 Boys Rosters and include 3x3 in the Olympic Games by 2016 at the earliest. Maximum two (2) players per team are allowed to register. 6 Players are randomly lined up behind the free-throw line and remain within the same order throughout 7 the competition. The first player on the line makes a free-throw, in case of making the shot he rejoins the line at the end otherwise he is eliminated; then it is the second player’s turn. The winner of the how does it work? game is the last remaining player. Players shoot ten (10) balls from behind the arc, placed on two (2) racks of five (5) balls. The racks are placed at 45° on the right and the left of the court, behind the arc. Time will be recorded and in case System of Competition: of draw, the fastest shooters will be privileged. Although this is a mixed contest, all participating players are divided into four (4) equal boys’ groups and four (4) equal girls group for the qualification rounds (8 groups). The winners of each group will access the final in order to have a balanced number of both genders in the finals (4 girls and 4 boys). System of Competition: Example in case all 240 players of the tournament are participating in this contest: Players will be divided into groups and courts during the qualifications, competing simultaneously. Court 1) 24 girls The eight (8) best/fastest shooters from the qualifications will play the finals (boys and girls separate). Court 2) 24 girls During the finals, the players will be ranked from 1st to 8th according to their shots made and time. Court 3) 24 girls They will compete head-to-head (1st vs 8th, 2nd vs 7th, etc.), shooting alternatively from each right Court 4) 24 girls and left sides of the court. Quarterfinals will be played simultaenously; the semifinals and finals of each Court 5) 36 boys contest (boys and girls) on the central court sequentially.
