We work closely with all players to continually develop individual skills in this supportive atmosphere. DC Development Academy encourages proper practice technique at all times. This philosophy develops positive habits and increases competence in the fundamentals. It is our passion to develop fundamentally-sound basketball players that have an exceptional understanding of the game. This is a high level program that will be solely focused on improving the fundamental skills of each player. The program breakdown will be as follows.... 6pm – 7:15pm - Fundamental Skill Development 7:15pm - 8pm - League Play www.durhamcitybasketball.ca In addition to the fundamentals, DC Development Academy also teaches other vitally important aspects of the game: confidence ! respect ! honesty ! persistence teamwork ! aggressiveness ! commitment ! and most of all, a love of the game Although these aspects are sometimes overlooked, they can have a tremendous impact on the development of children as players and individuals. The program will be led by DCBA Director of Development Coach Ron Parfitt and Coach Herold Excellent. Coach Parfitt is a retired teacher who built the Pickering High School basketball program into one of the most respected programs in Canada. He has accomplished numerous [email protected] local and provincial championships throughout the years. For over 30 years he has developed student-athletes into better basketball players and people simultaneously. Some of the notable players Coach Parfitt has coached: Cory Joseph, University of Texas Devoe Joseph, University of Oregon Kirk Salesman, Northeastern Tony King, Eastern Michigan University In addition to Coach Parfitt, the program will be assisted by Oshawa Power Assistant Coach Herold Excellent. April 13 April 4 April 20 April 11 April 27 April 18 May 4 April 25 SUMMER PROGRAM 2012 The DC United Summer program is proud to partner with Complete Sports Performance and Starting 5 Basketball Academy to deliver a comprehensive development and athletic training program for players during the offseason. The program is open to athletes born in 1998, 1999 and 2000 (Major Atom/Bantam/Major Bantam). The program will focus on 3 components Athletic Training - Complete Sports Performance Complete Sports Performance (CSP) is one of Durham's leading fitness centers. Complete Sports is privately owned and operated and an owner is on site 6 days per week. We offer a hands-on approach with a high degree of personal service from experienced coaches and trainers who are committed to helping you reach your full potential. We are fully equipped with state-of-the-art strength training equipment, cardiovascular machines and athletic training equipment.CSP’s core business is sports training; it’s our foundation. Our programs are customized, intense, and sport-specific. We offer performance training designed with the goals of making athletes faster, stronger, agile and explosive. We stand apart from other athletic training companies by enabling athletes to train specifically for the sport that they compete. This training philosophy produces better results, faster. We will be moving to a new 25,000 square foot facility off Notion Road in the Ajax/Pickering area. 8 sessions Basketball Training - Kirk Salesman and David Joseph Intense training for players wanting to improve on all facets of their game during the offseason. Players will have the opportunity to be trained by Kirk Salesman (former national team and pro player) and David Joseph (father and trainer of NBA player Cory Joseph - San Antonio Spurs, University of Oregon player Devoe Joseph, and countless other players) Looking for serious players who enjoy being pushed to the limit. Thursdays @ Lincoln Alexander P.S. 8pm - 10pm 10 Sessions Training will cover ball handling, footwork, shooting techniques, defence, passing, offensive moves, hand-eye coordination, etc AAU Tournaments We plan to participate in two U.S based tournaments throughout the summer. WIN! Ranked #1 The U15 Midget Chameleons participated in two AAA tournaments in January and won both of them to start the season with three straight tournament wins. SBA Tournament - January 6-8, 2012 This tournament didn’t start out well with a 47-39 overtime loss to the Advantage Titans on Friday Night. However, the girls showed their toughness and determination with two impressive victories on Saturday to get back into the tournament, 58-33 over KW Lightning and 46-15 over Sudbury Jam. The Gold medal game was a rematch against Advantage which was a very physical game with both teams determined to win. Victoria Anderson had another great game with 14 points leading the Chameleons to a 43-37 gold medal win. IEM Tournament – January 27-29, 2012 This tournament format was four games guaranteed and then the two top teams would meet in the final. The midget girls earned their way to the finals by going 3-1 with a 50-18 win over the Barrie Royals, 31-23 win over the Advantage Titans, 50-44 win over the Cornwall Lions and narrow 47-46 loss to the Brampton Warriors. The Gold medal game would be a rematch against the Advantage Titans. This was the fourth time these teams played each other within the month so the game was very intense. The midget girls made a statement beating Advantage 43-19 and winning the IEM tournament for the third straight year. Rachel Woodburn had her best game of the tournament with a double-double, 17 points and 10 steals. This team currently has a 22-5 record and was ranked on March 12, 2012 as the #1 team in the province for U15 girls. Keep up the good work. U13 Bantam Chameleons for the WIN! The DCBA Chameleons U13 Bantam Girls team played At the DCBA B-Ball Slam Classic Tournament the very well at the SBA AA Gold level tournament the weekend of March 3-4 2012, the Chameleons U13 weekend of January 27-29 2012. AFer wins against Bantam Girls team started off the tournament with a the ScarborouGh Blues (27-17), the BranMord Briers close win against IEM (33-37) in their first Game. The (51-13) and Sudbury Jam (38-22), they played hard for team then followed with two wins with wide point a stronG 51-23 finish against Sudbury Jam, makinG spreads (67-14 and 33-13) against Scarborough them the AA Gold Champions.
