Ducks clobber Blue Crabs in series finale Posted by S On 06/12/2016 WALDORF, MD - Fehlandt Lentini who went four for six with a solo home run and three RBI’s, was a triple away from the cycle, sparked the Ducks’ offense in the first inning as the Ducks pounded the Blue Crabs in the series finale 14-4 on Sunday at Regency Furniture Stadium. The Ducks, who scored three runs in the top of the first inning, rattled starting pitcher Scott Snodgress to a 3-0 lead. Snodgress was chased in the third inning after allowing seven runs, five of them earned on eight hits. Ian Marshall came in trying to alleviate the damage but was pulled after giving up six runs in one and two thirds innings. The Blue Crabs got on the board in the third inning scoring two runs on an RBI single hit by left fielder Zach Wilson, and an RBI double by third baseman Bryant Nelson. Michael Snyder belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, his 11th home run this season and his fourth home run in the last five games. Ruben Gotay, who was three for five today, crushed a two run home run and the Ducks added four runs in the top of the fifth inning extending the lead to 13-2. The Blue Crabs dipped into their bullpen quite a bit going through six pitchers to get through the game. The Blue Crabs have an off day tomorrow and will welcome the Bridgeport Bluefish to town on Tuesday for a three game series. The first pitch is set for 7:05 P.M. Copyright © 2021 thebaynet.com. Blue Crabs get routed by Ducks in game one Posted by MJ Brickey On 07/23/2016 Waldorf, MD —The bats were booming on Friday night, as the Long Island Ducks struck early and often pounding out 22 hits and four home runs to crush the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs 15-2 at Regency Furniture Stadium. In the top of the second, Long Island’s short stop Dan Lyons, stepped up to the plate and immediately hit a single off of Blue Crab’s starting pitcher Gaby Hernandez making his way to second on an error by the center fielder, later scoring on infielder Mark Minicozzi’s RBI single who went five for six on the night. Designated hitter Mike Blanke and left fielder Anthony Vega belted a pair of back-to-back jacks to extend the lead 5-0. The very next inning, Lyons destroyed a two-run home run to continue the onslaught. In the fourth inning, Long Island’s right fielder Fehlandt Lentini greeted Hernandez with a solo homer to increase the score 8-0. Hernandez was later chased after giving up a total of four runs, two singles and a walk in the inning. Hernandez finished his night allowing 12 hits, and giving up 11 runs in three and one-thirds innings. Blue Crabs manager Jeremy Owens passed the torch to reliever Ian Marshall who also struggled, allowing ten hits and four runs in four and two-thirds innings. The Blue Crabs avoided a shut out by scoring two runs in the fourth when second baseman Gary Brown ripped a two-run bomb but the damage was already done.
