CUESTIONES PREVIAS La figura del asesino se remonta a épocas pasadas, siendo considerado como aquella persona que actuaba contra otra u otras personas arrebatándoles la vida. En determinadas ocasiones, estos asesinos podían ser vistos como justicieros de una determinada sociedad que peleaban por salvar a los ciudadanos, luchando contra las clases altas. En la actualidad, lo verdaderamente llamativo para la opinión pública es la presencia de un individuo que lleva a cabo un número indeterminado de muertes, lo que induce a un gran revuelo social debido a la inseguridad que genera y al miedo colectivo que provoca dicha actuación. A lo largo de la historia, todos los países y civilizaciones han sido escenario de diversos casos de asesinatos, ya que no se contempla la posibilidad de un Estado que presente un nivel de delincuencia de este tipo con índices negativos, puesto que es poco probable que no se haya cometido ningún caso de asesinato durante un período de tiempo concreto. Así, Serrano Maíllo establece que “en todas las sociedades conocidas existen y han existido una serie de conductas que se han prohibido o bien que han sido de obligado cumplimiento, bajo la amenaza de un mal”1. En este sentido, es relevante destacar que este tipo de sucesos se consideran como un fenómeno social y criminológico que poco a poco va generando más investigaciones, debido al creciente desarrollo que se ha producido desde los años 60, dejando de ser un acontecimiento aislado2. Actualmente, los medios de comunicación inciden en gran medida en la frecuencia de aparición de personas con comportamiento agresivo. No es extraño presenciar constantemente imágenes sobre homicidios, agresiones, violaciones u otros actos violentos, sin importar el horario en el que se proyectan, llegando a provocar una gran controversia en la audiencia debido a las constantes infracciones que ejecutan programando dichas secuencias que vulneran la franja destinada a la población infantil. 1 SERRANO MAÍLLO, A., Introducción a la criminología, Madrid, 2009, pág. 64. 2 POZUECO ROMERO, J.M.; ROMERO GUILLENA, S.L.; y CASAS BARQUERO, N., “Psicopatía, violencia y criminalidad: un análisis psicológico-forense, psiquiátrico-legal y criminológico (parte II)”, en Cuadernos de Medicina Forense, Vol. 17(4), 2011, págs. 175-192. 3 La industria del cine, la televisión y la literatura tampoco obvian este asunto y lo catapultan hasta ser considerado como uno de los géneros más demandados por parte de la colectividad, que anhela conocer todos aquellos datos o acciones que se han llevado a cabo en la comisión de un asesinato; a la vez que ensalza dicha curiosidad el hecho de estar basado en acontecimientos reales, lo que añadiría un clima de morbosidad propio de la sociedad actual. En este sentido, Serrano Maíllo critica la situación que se produce en la actualidad, estableciendo que “se ha visto en la sociedad contemporánea una cultura que favorece el entretenimiento y el espectáculo y elude el esfuerzo y la exigencia, cuando no la desincentiva”3. En este sentido, no resulta extraño ver a jóvenes que lucen con cierto orgullo determinadas camisetas, gorras, sudaderas o demás productos de comercialización en las que se encuentran proyectadas las imágenes de un determinado asesino, ya sea real o ficticio, donde se vanaglorian de la cantidad de asesinatos que han cometido o de la dureza de sus propias acciones. Así, son frecuentes los presentes que llevan incorporadas las figuras de asesinos reales como Charles Manson, Ed Gein o Jeffrey Dahmer, así como aquellas que se centran en personalidades creadas por Hollywood como Hannibal Lecter (El silencio de los corderos) o Norman Bates (Psicosis). A este respecto, Hickey incidió sobre la influencia de determinados delincuentes, más concretamente de los asesinos en serie en el cine, lo cual se ha traducido en un incremento a lo largo de las décadas del número de películas que versan sobre estos sujetos, ya sean creadas con argumentos ficticios o basadas en hechos reales. La muerte trágica de numerosas víctimas, en un momento de sus vidas donde jamás podrían esperar ser abordadas por estos agresores, se ha convertido en una novela mediática que estremece a la vez que fascina. En este trabajo, tratamos de explicar tanto el concepto como la personalidad de un asesino y asesina serial, distinguiendo entre la psicopatía y la psicosis propia de estos individuos, explicando al lector sus diversas características, los factores influyentes que le inducen a cometer el hecho criminal, y la posible esclavitud de estos sujetos de sus impulsos. Además, arrojaremos luz a temas como el de la reinserción social, la pena de muerte, o la prisión permanente revisable. Por último, analizaremos diversos casos concretos de asesinatos en España, como el caso de Asunta y el Bretón, y asesinatos seriales, así como la imputabilidad, y los posibles tratamientos a los que se les pudiera someter.     Serial Murders in Santa Cruz County By Sharon Yamanaka In 1973, with the discovery of four bodies in Henry Cowell State Park, then District Attorney Peter Chang mumbled a comment about "Murderville, USA." It was picked up by a reporter and went to wire service as "Murder Capital of the World." Santa Cruz was stuck with the nickname for many years because of local serial killers, Herbert Mullin, Edmund Emil Kemper III and John Linley Frazier. Ohta murders, Oct. 19, 1970 Dr. Victor Ohta, a prominent Santa Cruz County ophthalmologist; his wife, two sons and his secretary were slain at the family residence in Soquel. John Linley Frazier of Soquel was arrested 4 days later. There was a grand jury indictment Oct. 28, 1970. The trial started Oct. 18, 1971 and Frazier was convicted Nov. 29, 1971 for the murder of five persons. He was declared legally sane and sentenced to die in San Quentin's gas chamber. California abolished the death penalty in 1972, automatically commuting the sentence to life imprisonment. Mullin, Herbert 1 Between Oct. 12, 1972 and Feb. 13, 1973, thirteen murders were committed by Mullin. He was arrested on Feb. 13, 1973. During the trial which started in July 1973, Mullin stated he heard "die songs", messages that told him to commit human sacrifices to prevent massive earthquakes on the San Andreas Fault. Mullin was charged and convicted of 10 murders and was sentenced in Sept. 1973 to a life in prison. Kemper, Edmund Emil III In 1964, 16 year old Kemper shot and killed his grandparents and was committed to Atascadero State Hospital.

Deadly Voices equals Deadly PeopleBy KenHersquo;s back. Author Chris Swinneyrsquo;s newest True Crime book has hit the shelves running. For those of us that follow the true crime book series this has to be right up there. Well researched, well written and easy to follow. Herbert Mullin is a sick individual and C.L. Swinney has brought that out in a quick read book that details start to finish Mullinrsquo;s life with his drugs and voices that lead the way. I really like when Chris can interject his real life police experiences into the narrative. I particularly liked the conclusion of the book. The author with all his police experience can explain what life behind bars is for the criminals while still tying up the life of Herbert Mullin. I am glad Herbert Mullin won't be listening to voices from outside prison for a VERY long time.8 of 8 people found the following review helpful.

No comparable recognition seems to exist, however, regarding the changed circumstances and motivations associated with some of the more sensational acts of contemporary American violence. While most violent crimes continue HEN we speak of American "civil religion," we to be "orthodox" in their instrumentality (performed for have in mind more than the public ceremonies the sake of private vengeance or personal gain) or in w and officially promulgated beliefs which have their impulsiveness (performed in temporary rage or been studied by Robert Bellah, Sidney Mead, loss of inhibition), a puzzling configuration of factors Martin Marty, Conrad Cherry, and others.1 Though surfaces in a number of recent, well-publicized incidents some of the traditional expressions of the civil religion of mass murder and attempted assassination.     LOS CRÍMENES DEL ARROPIERO José Alfredo Piera Pellicer ANTECEDENTES Manuel Delgado Villegas nació en Sevilla el 25 de enero de 1943. Su madre, que contaba entonces 24 años, murió al dar a luz. El hambre y la miseria de la posguerra inundaban España. Su padre, un honrado trabajador, se ganaba la vida fabricando y vendiendo golosinas caseras hechas con arrope, un líquido dulzón, negruzco y espeso que se hace con higos. De ahí el alias del Arropiero que luego heredaría su tristemente famoso hijo. Al fallecer su esposa dejó la criatura al cuidado de la abuela y marchó a vivir al Puerto de Santa María, donde posteriormente se volvería a casar, por lo que él y su única hermana, Joaquina, fueron criados por su abuela y convivió con varios parientes diferentes, que le propinaban frecuentemente palizas que le curtieron el cuerpo y endurecieron el corazón. Acudió a la escuela, pero fue incapaz de aprender a leer y escribir. Ya cuando tenía 12 ó 13 años nos venía contando que había ligado a un marica o pisado a tal o cual niña. En el mismo año nacieron: Luís Eduardo Aute, Joan Manuel Serrat, Narcis Serra, Luís Rojas Marcos, Reinaldo Arena, Antonio Burgos; es por contradecir a los supersticiosos que buscan lógicas ilógicas. En ese mismo año nacieron personajes buenos e inteligentes y también el Arropiero. Era bisexual, mostraba un carácter bastante violento y la promiscuidad empezó a ser su norma de vida. Empezó a gozar de gran estima entre homosexuales y prostitutas, y logró vivir a su costa. Su éxito se debía a que padecía anaspermatismo, es decir, ausencia de eyaculación, por lo que era capaz de practicar repetidos coitos en busca de un orgasmo que no conseguía alcanzar.
