PARK SCHOOL CAMPUS - 400 W. TOWNLINE ROAD - ROUND LAKE, IL 60073 ! !“Falling Back” Into the Routine… It seems like we have all easily fallen back into the daily routine of the new school year. The PTO is here to make a change for our school, just like a tree goes from green to golden yellow this time of year.!

As you’ll read on to find out, we had a number of successful and entertaining events sponsored by our PTO last month. Our goal is to unify our students, their families, and the Park School Campus staff, while helping raise funds to enrich our children’s education and overall school experience. This past month was proof that we’re unified! By attending an event or donating your time to assist, you’re helping us get one step closer to reaching our goals. Thank you for your support!!

A huge thank you to everyone that attended the PTO meeting last month! Please join us in welcoming our newest Board members - Meghan Cripe and Jennifer Garraway. !

We have some great events planned this month - Movie Night, Book Fair, Staff Appreciation Dinner, Munchkins with Mom, Dave & Buster’s Spirit Night, 5th Grade Ice Cream Social, and the Halloween Dance. Look for more details in the coming weeks!!

Dear Parents and Families:

Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Here’s what you can do to help children develop stronger reading skills and a love for reading:

• Set the example. Let children see you read. • Have a collection of books in your home. Update this collection routinely to keep pace with changing tastes and reading skills. • Support our school’s Book Fair. Allow your children to choose their own books to read.

Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into our school. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level. Please make plans to visit our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.

Book Fair dates: Friday, October 2nd through Thursday, October 8th during Movie Night and Conference Week Shopping hours: Fri. 10/2 6:30-9pm (during Movie Night), Mon. 10/5 9am-4pm, Tues. 10/6 9am-4pm, Wed. 10/7 11am-7pm, and Thurs. 10/8 11am-8pm

Before you visit the Book Fair, be sure to download the Book Fairs app to help you find the right books for your child. For more information, visit scholastic.com/apps/bookfairs. And, if you are unable to attend the Fair in person, we invite you to visit our online Book Fair at http://bookfairs.scholastic.com/homepage/parkcampus. Our online Fair is available from Thursday, October 8th to Thursday, October 29th.

We look forward to seeing you and your family at our Book Fair! Remember, all purchases benefit our school. Also, please consider donating just a couple hours of your time to volunteer at this event. Any amount of time you can spare helps tremendously and is greatly appreciated! See back for more details.

Sincerely,

!

Principal!

Park School Campus

Dear Park School Staff and Families,

The beginning stages of planning for Inspiration Day 2016 have begun! As many of you know, this day is a special day for students to try new things and inspire their interests. On behalf of the Park School PTO, we would like to invite you to consider being a presenter for one of our Inspiration Day activities on Friday, April 29, 2016. We hope you can help us provide the students with a wealth of workshops to select from.

As a volunteer, you will be provided with beverages, a light breakfast, and lunch. If you need materials to teach your workshop, the PTO can provide reimbursement for your expenses. (Pre-authorization for purchases and an original store receipt are required for reimbursement.) Set-up time is available the evening of Thursday, April 28th or you can simply arrive early on Friday, April 29th. We ask that you arrive no later than 8:00am on Friday, April 29th. Activities will end at approximately 2:30pm. Presenters will be assigned a classroom and students will rotate through the classroom to participate in your workshop. School staff members will accompany students during the workshops to provide extra adult help, as needed. There will be 6 rotations during the school day, each lasting 40 minutes. Typically 20-25 students are in each session, unless otherwise specified. Please Note: Kindergarteners will participate in a modified program to accommodate their shorter day and other needs. More information will be sent home in the coming months.

We are eagerly beginning to plan for this inspiring day by securing presenters for the workshops. Workshop assignments are first come, first serve. Please fill out the presenter form, if applicable, and return to the school office as soon as possible. If you are unable to be a presenter, but would like to help with set-up, supply preparation, directing traffic flow in hallways, or assisting a presenter during their workshops, feel free to email us at [email protected]. Please forward this information to anyone else that may be interested in helping and sharing one of their talents with our students.

We look forward to a fun and educational day with the kids at Park School.

th Help us celebrate our 10 anniversary!

Foundation46 is revved up and ready to roll into the 2015-2016 school year after an incredibly exciting summer! We kicked off the summer break with our Nine, Wine and Fine Arts event, followed quickly by our Box City at the Grayslake Arts Festival. The summer closed with our inaugural Summer Days Go-Kart Races.

Since its creation 10 years ago, the foundation has brought countless fun and educational programming and grants to District 46 schools and students. In the last three years, for instance, we have provided more than $59,000 in staff grants to District 46 teachers and have assisted 56 families with fees for extra-curricular activities they could not otherwise afford.

Please help us continue to provide this support and enrichment to our students, schools and community by participating in our annual $46 for 46 fundraising campaign. Gifts of all sizes are welcome and can be given on our website or by mailing a check payable to Foundation46 to PO Box 7261, Grayslake, IL 60030. Not ready to part with $46? You can set up an automated monthly payment of $3.83. If your employer makes matching gifts, don't forget to submit your receipt to your employer and find out how to double your impact!

Would you like to help Foundation46? AmazonSmile. If you shop on Amazon.com, click here. Then, simply shop as usual, and Amazon will donate 0.5% of the purchase price to Foundation46. It couldn’t be easier--just bookmark the link and support us every time you shop!

American Express Members Give. If you use American Express, you can make donations to Foundation46 using your American Express card, or you can donate your rewards points. Foundation46 will receive $10 for every 1,000 points you donate, and it won’t cost you a dime! See our website for easy links.

Volunteer with Foundation46. If you really want to join the fun, find out how you can be a part of Foundation46. Whether your passion is science, writing, raising money or the arts, there’s a place for you! Just send an email to [email protected], and we’ll let you know all of the volunteering options.

46 Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit educational foundation. Our mission is to enrich and enhance the educational experience of every student in CCSD 46. Read the full September 2015 Newsletter Visit our website: www.foundation46.org DISTRICT 46 FAMILY DAY WITH THE WOLVES
