Wychwood Park Wychwood Park Sits on a Height of Land That Was Once the Lake Iroquois Shore
Wychwood Park Wychwood Park sits on a height of land that was once the Lake Iroquois shore. The source for Taddle Creek lies to the north and provides the water for the pond found in the centre of the Park. Today, Taddle Creek continues under Davenport Road at the base of the escarpment and flows like an underground snake towards the Gooderham and Worts site and into Lake Ontario. Access to this little known natural area of Toronto is by two entrances one at the south, where a gate prevents though traffic, and the other entrance at the north end, off Tyrell Avenue, which provides the regular vehicular entrance and exit. A pedestrian entrance is found between 77 and 81 Alcina Avenue. Wychwood Park was founded by Marmaduke Matthews and Alexander Jardine in the third quarter of the 19th century. In 1874, Matthews, a land- scape painter, built the first house in the Park (6 Wychwood Park) which he named “Wychwood,” after Wychwood Forest near his home in England. The second home in Wychwood Park, “Braemore,” was built by Jardine a few years later (No. 22). When the Park was formally established in 1891, the deed provided building standards and restrictions on use. For instance, no commercial activities were permitted, there were to be no row houses, and houses must cost not less than $3,000. By 1905, other artists were moving to the Park. Among the early occupants were the artist George A. Reid (Uplands Cottage at No. 81) and the architect Eden Smith (No. 5). Smith designed both 5 and 81, as well as a number of others, all in variations of the Arts and Crafts style promoted by C.F.A. -

Casa Loma’s Fate One of the city’s great landmarks By Trelawny Howell or the better part of a century, Torontonians have been blessed with an absolutely irreplaceable treasure. And Fthrough most of that time we have ignored it, abused it, defiled it and turned one of Toronto’s greatest landmarks into a monumental embarrassment. If you’ve visited Casa Loma lately, you’ll know what I mean. But generally, Toronto residents tend not to spend time at the city’s third most popular tourist destination. If they were aware of what’s been going on at what once was Toronto’s most romantic, glamorous landmark, I suspect there would be thou- sands beating on Mayor David Miller’s door to take his electoral broom and sweep the castle clean. I must confess that I could be perceived as having a vested interest in the fate of Casa Loma. I am the great-grandniece of Sir Henry Pellatt, the visionary Toronto businessman and First World War legend who built his amazing residence between 1911 and 1914. The castle was just one in a long list of over- the-top accomplishments for the Kingston-born wunderkind, known at that time as one of the 25 men who were the nation’s most spectacular financiers. Henry Pellatt joined his father’s stock brokerage at just 17 years of age and a year later signed on with the Queen’s Own Rifles, which he later commanded and formed into a regiment of 750 men. Always a visionary, he invested heavily in elec- tric power generation and the westward trek of thousands of newly arrived immigrants. -

UP Express Pricing Strategy Staff Report
To: Metrolinx Board of Directors From: Kathy Haley, President, Union Pearson Express Date: December 11, 2014 Re: UP Express Pricing Strategy Staff Report 1. Executive Summary With the launch of Union Pearson (UP) Express in spring 2015, Toronto will join the ranks of other world class cities with an express rail service between downtown and the airport. UP Express will provide travellers with a fast, simple route that takes 25 minutes, and departs every 15 minutes for 19.5 hours a day. To inform the fare structure, research and analysis was completed on market trends and passenger demographics, as well as benchmarking against local and international transportation modes. UP Express has developed a fare structure based on the principles of Distance (fare by distance), Discounts (to build ridership), and Demand (ensuring enough ridership). The proposed UP Express one-way adult fare from Union Station and Toronto Pearson is $19 with the PRESTO card or $27.50 fare without the PRESTO card. Staff are proposing discounted prices for families, children, students, seniors, and airport employees who have a valid Toronto Pearson identification card. The proposed fare structure builds in the elimination of the $1.85 access fee originally required by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA). 2. Recommendation Be it Resolved that: The Board of Directors approve the recommended fare structures as presented by UP Express on December 11, 2014. 3. Project Background Toronto’s dedicated Air Rail Link (ARL), the Union Pearson (UP) Express, is launching in spring 2015 and will be owned and operated by Metrolinx. The project is currently on-time and on-budget, and when launched it will run between Canada’s two busiest passenger transport hubs – Union Station in downtown Toronto and the Toronto Pearson International Airport (Toronto Pearson). -

Item 3 For Action with Confidential Attachment GACCTO Lease Extension and Rent Abatement Request Date: June 17, 2020 To: Toronto Coach Terminal Inc. – Board of Directors From: Chief Capital Officer Reason for Confidential Information This report is about a proposed or pending land acquisition or disposition of land for municipal or local board purposes. Summary TCTI Board approval is required to authorize a lease extension to Greyhound and Coach Canada Toronto Operations Limited (GACCTO), which currently operates an inter-city bus terminal from the property at 610 Bay Street and 130 Elizabeth Street. The lease extension will provide time for GACCTO to secure an alternate location for its operations. Staff recommend an extension of up to one year, based on the same terms and conditions of the existing lease, with an early termination provision, subject to approval of CreateTO and the City of Toronto in a form acceptable to TTC General Counsel. The report also considers a request for rent abatement from GACCTO. Staff recommendations with respect to this matter are outlined in the Confidential Attachment. Recommendations It is recommended that the TCTI Board: 1. Authorize Staff to extend the 610 Bay Street and 130 Elizabeth Street lease for up to one (1) year on the same terms and conditions as the existing lease, including rent increases applicable at the time of term extension, subject to approval of CreateTO and the City of Toronto in a form acceptable to TTC General Counsel, and including the following additional provision: a) GACCTO and TCTI shall both have the right to terminate the lease, subject to applicable termination provisions in the current lease, at any time after July 7, 2021, with a minimum of six months’ written notice. -
