General Information Dear Resident: In each brochure letter I am trying to bring to attention some of the special features, other user amenities. September 24-26 Attention all artisans and wine aficionados. Save the date. The Second Annual Benches on Parade Art & Wine Festival is scheduled for September 24 through September 26, 2010 in Usher Park. This year, the Benches on Parade Art & Wine Festival Committee will be hosting Pajama Program, a charity event, on Friday evening from 4 PM to 9 PM. The Pajama Program has been featured on the Oprah Show and is dedicated to delivering warm sleepwear and nurturing books to children in need. Your admission into the charity event is achieved through the donation of a new pair of pajamas (infants to teenagers). Visits from Santa Santa will surprise your family with a special visit to your home. You can tell Santa all about your holiday wish list. Due to Santa’s busy schedule this time of year, he will only be able to stay for 10 minutes. Families will need to be available from 5:30 to 8:30pm so Santa can catch you at home. Leaps & Turns Learn the techniques used to perfect the turns, leaps, and jumps seen in Jazz and Ballet. This class will build balance, coordination, flexibility, and muscle memory. This class is great DANCE as a supplement to any other class. Students will also be exposed to ballet vocabulary. Mom & Me Ballet This class provides mother/daughter bonding time in the dance studio! Students will learn the basics of ballet while getting to dance with their Moms. This is a great class if Children’s Dance the child is uncertain about attending class alone. Young students will enjoy this introductory class as half the time will be devoted to ballet and the other half to tap dance. Students need tap shoes, ballet shoes, leotard, and tights.

Pre-Ballet This is an introduction to the format of a ballet class. Learn fundamentals of ballet in a fun atmosphere. Games and songs are used during class time as an outlet for self expression and putting movement to music. Students will need ballet shoes, leotard, and tights.

Ballet For the dancer that wants to concentrate on ballet. The art form and technique will be the primary focus of these classes. Students will need ballet shoes, leotard, and tights. Please no baggy clothing.

Tap/Jazz Classes For the dancer that wants to dance with more freedom than ballet and learn the basics of jazz technique and tap fundamentals. Half the class will be devoted to jazz and the other half to tap. Students will need jazz shoes, tap shoes and comfortable dance attire.

Hip Hop Students will learn new dance moves. This dance style allows the body to move freely and funky. Students will need comfortable clothing and either jazz shoes or danceable gym shoes.

Int. Jazz/Hip Hop This class is meant for the dancer who has completed jazz and hip hop classes and is willing and able to attempt handstands and poses that require upper body strength.

Choreograph With Me This class is for kids who want to learn to create their own dances and learn to properly count music in various styles. It will incorporate tap, jazz, hip-hop, lyrical and ballet. Notebook and pen required for each class.

Aiki-Jitsu Aiki-Jitsu is a self defense course which combines lessons in the arts of Aikido and Jiu Jitsu, both stemming from “the way of harmony”. Harmony is achieved when one is able to redirect the force of an assailant’s attack and place the assailant in a pinned or locked position. These include throws, arm bars, joint pins and chokes. This is an 8- week continuing course taught by instructors from American Tiger Karate Academy, certi - fied by the Aikido Association of America and the BJJ Association. Itasca Running Club The Itasca Running Club was formed to bring together runners of various skills and backgrounds. It is a great way to meet people who share your enthusiasm for running. The club meets at Starbucks in Itasca every Saturday at 7am. The five-mile course runs through the village streets.
