Fifteen Asian boxers are guaranteed medallist in the AIBA World Boxing Championships and in the first year of the Asian Olympic cycle, our boxers proved they are capable to beat all of the continents. We are all proud of our Asian heroes here in Hamburg and our hard work paid off earlier than in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Now our main mission is to keep this leading position in the upcoming years. We are working hard to support all Asian countries to develop their boxers and all aspects of the sport to be the leader in boxing among the continents. Uzbekistan continued its strong performance after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and the Tashkent 2017 ASBC Asian Confederation Boxing Championships. Re-building the Kazakh team after the Rio 2016 Olympic Games was a successful mission from Mr. Myrzagali Aitzhanov who arrived to Hamburg with new national team members. Mongolia, South Korea and India proved their boxers have got all the potentials to join to the best boxing nations not only in Asia but in the World as well. Kazakhstan’s Kairat Yeraliyev MR. Mr. Serik Konakbayev will have also negotiations with the leaders of the world’s boxing life during his stay in the Hamburg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships. 8 WWW.ASBCNEWS.ORG August, 2017 9 TOGETHER WE ARE POWER YERALIYEV AND GIYASOV ARE ASIA’S HEROES IN THE HAMBURG 2017 AIBA WORLD BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS The last competition day was held at the AIBA World Boxing Cham- pionships in Hamburg where 10 gold medal bouts were in the official program. Kazakhstan’s Kairat Yeraliyev and Uzbekistan’s Shakhram Giyasov won their finals today evening and celebrated their first ever AIBA World Boxing Championships title. Asia had altogether amazing number of 15 semi-finalists in the Ham- burg 2017 AIBA World Boxing Championships and among our hopes 7 were able to go through to the finals in Germany. Miesten tärkein kilpailutapahtuma oli EM-kisat Bulgarian Samkovoissa. Ennen EM-kisoja käytiin karsintaottelu Dmitri Tretjakin ja Ilari Kujalan välillä Helsingissä,Tretjak voitti ja sai edutuspaikan EM-kisoihin 3-miehiseen joukkueeseen. Kisoissa Matti Koota hävisi Armenian Avajagille 3 - 0, Dmitri Tretjak diskattiin Puolan Jablonskia vastaan ja Tomi Honka voitti ensin Armenian Segsianin ja hävisi seuraavaksi Velko-Venäjän Kornejeville. Joukkueemme sai yhden otteluvoiton ja näin emme saanneet osallistujia MM-kilpailuhin Qatariin, jonne maanosien mestaruuskilpailuissa parhaat saivat paikan. MM-kisoissa Kuuba nousi kisojen parhaaksi maaksi 4:llä mestaruudella, toisena oli Venäjä 2:lla mestaruudella. MM-kisoja ei käyty ilman suomalaisia. Allan Roos oli kutsuttuna tuomarina mukana kisoissa. MM-kisat olivat myös 1 karsintakisa olympialaisiin, 2 karsintakisaa on vielä edessä, huhtikuussa Turkissa, toinen vielä epävarma, ehkä kesäkuussa.
