Kisoissa Matti Koota hävisi Armenian Avajagille 3 - 0, Dmitri Tretjak diskattiin Puolan Jablonskia vastaan ja Tomi Honka voitti ensin Armenian Segsianin ja hävisi seuraavaksi Velko-Venäjän Kornejeville. Joukkueemme sai yhden otteluvoiton ja näin emme saanneet osallistujia MM-kilpailuhin Qatariin, jonne maanosien mestaruuskilpailuissa parhaat saivat paikan. MM-kisoissa Kuuba nousi kisojen parhaaksi maaksi 4:llä mestaruudella, toisena oli Venäjä 2:lla mestaruudella. MM-kisoja ei käyty ilman suomalaisia. Allan Roos oli kutsuttuna tuomarina mukana kisoissa. MM-kisat olivat myös 1 karsintakisa olympialaisiin, 2 karsintakisaa on vielä edessä, huhtikuussa Turkissa, toinen vielä epävarma, ehkä kesäkuussa.
