LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL NOTICE OF MOTION Mr Tudehope says— Mr PRESIDENT: I give notice that on the next sitting day I will move: (1) That Mr Shaoquett Moselmane be discharged from the Joint Select Committee on the Anti-Discrimination Amendment (Religious Freedoms and Equality) Bill. (2) That: (a) the resolution of 18 June 2020 appointing the Joint Select Committee on the Anti-Discrimination Amendment (Religious Freedoms and Equality) Bill be amended by omitting paragraph (5) of and inserting instead: '(5) The Committee to consist of: (a) Nine members of the Legislative Assembly as follows: (i) Three Government members, namely Hon Gabrielle Upton MP (chair), Robyn Preston MP and Gurmesh Singh MP, (ii) Three Opposition members, namely Paul Lynch MP (deputy chair), Tania Mihailuk MP, and Jihad Dib MP and (iii) Three cross-bench members, namely Alex Greenwich MP, Jenny Leong MP and Joe McGirr MP, and (b) Five members of the Legislative Council, namely three Government members, one Opposition member, and one cross- bench member'. Signed ___________________________ Dated ____________________________ C:\Users\LClark\Desktop\Notices 4 August\7 Searle 200804 SO52 Brandy Hill Quarry expansion proposal.doc LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL NOTICE OF MOTION Ms Sharpe says— Mr PRESIDENT: I give notice that on the next sitting day I will move: (1) That this House notes that: (a) 4 August 2020 is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day, a day to focus on First Nations kids, culture, family and community, and (b) National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day was established by 'SNAICC – National Voice for Our Children' in 1988 to recognise the many Aboriginal kids living in orphanages and institutions do not know their birthday and that this day was for them. (2) That this House notes that: (a) Aboriginal children continue to be removed from their families at alarming rates in New South Wales and 40 per cent of children in out of home care are Aboriginal despite representing only 5 per cent of all children, (b) the proportion of Aboriginal children and young people in out of home care is increasing, (c) in 2019, Professor Megan Davis released ‘Family Is Culture’, a detailed and groundbreaking report from her independent review of Aboriginal children and young people in out of home care, (d) the Family is Culture report makes 125 expert recommendations and a further 3,000 recommendations on individual cases that were reviewed, and (e) the Government recently released its response to the report which was four pages long, failed to address the bulk of the 125 recommendations and contains no additional funding.
