The Beauty of Glass Lasvit Pro Jects 2 0 18 The Beauty of Glass Projects Lasvit Projects 2018/ Volume I ˚ Beauty has not been here for mere ten years. It’d been here since time immemorial, long before we began to worship it. It emerges, nurtures, fades. The motion power of the universe, of the planet, of the people. Of you and of me, of all life in all its forms. Sparks in the eyes, inner flame, flames of passion, jealousy, eruptions on the Sun, invisible signals, floods of emotions. Not belonging to anyone, including us - the handful of devotees spreading the message in its name. Just what is the Czech Republic and the few worldwide branches? These few hundred years of glassmaking tradition, those masters of the craft, this Leon Jakimič? What is design, or art? Who has the right to take themselves so seriously to place their ego above nature, and impose their judgement on beauty? On the way it’s supposed to look, and on the way it’s supposed to be viewed. No, no one, not even you. Mere mastering the change of state - it’s only sand, and then glass. Arts, procedures, nonsense about energy, wasting it or saving it. Market manipulations and light-speed races in disciplines that do not nor ever did exist. Intro Prologue Let it be, it’s already set. Try to be free. Let live coincidences, moods, feelings, and emotions. Smiles and astonishments. Eyes narrowed or wide open. All the rays, flashes - data, if you will. Stories. Hearts aflame, even if uncomfortable. Yes, even laughter, tears, and magic. It’s not about us, we’re only trying for the light beaming somewhere to make an imprint. In the right moment - for ever, perhaps - in glass and in such manner to make you grasp for air and blind with astonishment: “What beauty!” For this, we love glass, for it we do this. Try to understand, and who knows - maybe you’ll join in. ■ North America District Energy Space 2019 Spotlighting Industry Growth 2019: More than 180 million square feet reported Over 2.5 billion square feet reported since 1990 District■ North America Energy Space 2019 Industry Growth Around the World Dedicated to the growth and utilization of district energy as a means to enhance energy efficiency, provide more sustainable, reliable and resilient energy infrastructure, and contribute to improving the global environment. The publication of District Energy Space has become an annual tradition for the International District Energy Association (IDEA) since 1990. Compilations beyond North America were initiated in 2004. This issue features a compilation of data provided by our members including the number of buildings and their area in square feet that have been committed or recommitted to district energy service in North America during calendar year 2019, or previously unreported for recent years. Each year, IDEA asks its member systems to provide information on buildings that committed or recommitted to district energy service during the previous calendar year. To qualify for consideration in District Energy Space, a renewal must be a contracted building or space that had been scheduled to expire during the calendar year and was renewed under a contract with a duration of 10 years or more. Year-to-year rollover--simple continuation of service to existing buildings is not considered renewal. Established in 1909, the International District Energy Association serves as a vital communications and information hub for the district energy industry, connecting industry professionals and advancing the technology around the world. With headquarters just outside of Boston, Mass., IDEA comprises over 2,400 district heating and cooling system executives, managers, engineers, consultants and equipment suppliers from 25 countries.
