Right now she is in the process of sewing some unique gifts for her family for Christmas, i.e. an Australian Drover coat. USABDA GRAND BALL By Karen Keftler To top off a week full of dancing, US$DA ended Na- tional Ballroom Dance Week with an elegant Grand Ball at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis on Sunday evening, September 25. About 80 members and guests enjoyed a sumptuous dinner of prime rib or walleye. The ballroom was a visual feast of gladiolas and sparkling lights, courtesy of the dcorating talents of Noel Blair. After dinner, the ballroom was filled with 200 dancers who glided around the floor to taped music arranged by Mark Tepley. Above: Bill Nunn and The highlight of the evening was a showcase of amateur Yvonne Riske and professional talent. Amateur champion Nels Petersen displayed his winning style with partners Heidi Smith and We were back at the Matl of America--this Theresa Kimler. This year's professional show included all the time for our third dance exhibition there! categories of competitive dancing: International Modern, In- ternational Latin, American Smooth, American Rhythm and Theatre Arts. The nationally recognized professional couples who participated were: Robert & Jennifer Foster--Theatre Arts and Bolero; Paul and Sandra Botes--Modern Waltz and ; Mark Weiss and Tsha Jacobson--Paso Doble and ; and United States Nine-Dance Champions Jesse Smith and Lynda Price--American Smooth and . A special thank you to all the volunteers and coordinators. A great deal of work and planning goes into making an event, such as the Grand Ball, an evening of memorable dancing and entertainment. Congratulations to Avelyn Hooker, who was the outstand- ing ticket seller for the Grand Ball ! She sold a total of 39 Above: Scott and tickets.
