Drive to Haridwar DAY We will drive to Haridwar. Upon our arrival, we will check in hotel and ease at the 02 leisure. We will attend the evening Ganga Aarati in Haridwar. 21 Sep 2017 Thursday Rishikesh 24 kilometers from Haridwar. Located in the lap of the lower Himalayas, Rishikesh is surrounded by scenic beauty with the Holy Ganges flowing through it. The whole place is considered to be a sacred tirtha, as it is believed that meditation at this place leads to the attainment of salvation. There are many temples, some ancient, some new, along the river Ganges. Rishikesh is important not only as a pilgrimage center closely associated with the Ramayana, but also as a home for many important centers of Hindu religious thought and spirituality, and as a very great center for learning yoga. There are a great many ashrams and yoga institutes in Rishikesh. Char Dham Yatra 2017 Karnali Excursions Drive to Rishikesh and onto Barkot (170 kms drive / 06 hrs) DAY After breakfast and exploring major highlights of Haridwar, we will drive to Rishikesh and 03 onto Barkot. Overnight in a tourist standard hotel on full board basis. 22 Sep 2017 Friday A side trip to Yamunotri (Barkot-Yamunotri-Barkot) (42 kms drive / 7 kms trekking) DAY After our breakfast, we will drive to Janaki Chatti via Hanuman Chatti and Phool Chatti. 04 We will start trekking of 7 km to Yamunotri where we will take a holy dip in Garam 23 Sep 2017 Kund and then perform Puja and Darshan of Shree Yamuna Jee. After holy dip, Puja and Saturday Darshan of Yamuna Jee, we will trek back to Janaki Chatti and drive to Barkot. We will spend overnight in a tourist standard hotel at Barkot. Karnali Excursions Char Dham Yatra 2017 Drive to Uttar Kashi (Harshil) (82 kms drive / 04 hrs) DAY After having breakfast, we will leave for Uttar Kashi, a drive of 82 kilometres. Enroute, we 05 will visit Prakateshwar Cave. We will visit the Vishwanath Temple in the evening. 24 Sep 2017 Uttar Kashi is situated on the bank of the holy Bhagirathi Ganga. The temple of Lord Sunday Vishwanath is located here where there is a massive iron trident. We will spend overnight in a tourist standard hotel on full board basis. Drive to Gomukh and onto Bhoj-Basa DAY After breakfast, we will drive to Gomukh. We will perform our ritual and then we will 06 drive to Bhoj-Basa. We will spend overnight in a tourist standard hotel on full board basis. 25 Sep 2017 Monday Char Dham Yatra 2017 Karnali Excursions Gangotri Darshan and drive to Uttar Kashi (Harshil) DAY Today, first of all, we will do Darshan of Gongotri and then we will drive to Uttar Kashi 07 (Harshil). We will spend overnight in a tourist standard hotel on full board basis. 26 Sep 2017 Tue Drive to Rudra Prayag (Gupt Kashi) (165 kms drive/ 4 - 5 hrs) DAY After having breakfast, we will drive to Tehri Dam and then we will continue to 08 Rudra-Prayag. We will spend overnight in a tourist standard hotel on full board basis. 27 Sep 2017 Wed Helicopter ride to Kedarnath DAY We will fly to Kedarnath by helicopter, visit major shrines of Kedarnath and return to Gupt 09 Kashi. We will spend overnight in a hotel on full board basis. 28 Sep 2017 Thu Karnali Excursions Char Dham Yatra 2017 Gupt Kashi-Rudra Prayag-Pipalkoti (157 km drive/6 hr) After morning Puja and Darshan at the temple, we will leave for trekking to Gorikund and DAY drive back to Rudra-Prayag/Pipalkoti. We will spend overnight in a tourist standard hotel 10 on full board basis. 29 Sep 2017 Fri Rudra-Parag/Pipalkoti-Badrinath (72 kms/ 2 hr drive) After our breakfast, we will leave for Shree Badrinath, en-route we will also visit Narsimha DAY Temple. After settling in the hotel, we will take the holy Darshan of Shree Badrinath and 11 spend rest of our time exploring Mana village. Mana village is the last village before the 30 Sep 2017 Sat Tibetan border. We will have a Darshan of Vyas Gupha, Bhim Pul and Sararswati River. You should not expect or compare it to other more developed destinations. There are occasional shortages of water and power in this region. You may come across situations where water is supplied on a timed basis – Morning to Evening. In this region the hotels may not have generator facilities. In case of any power failure, hotels will provide candles for light. General Information 1. Flight Details Please send us your flight details as soon as you book your flights. If there are any last minute changes, please notify us immediately by e-mail. This is very important, as we need to arrange for your airport pickup in Delhi. Please look for the Karnali Excursions sign board as you come out from the Airport. 2. Passport, India Visa Related: • USA and UK passport holders require a Visa for India. Get this at home by contacting the nearest Indian embassy or consulate. Indian Passport holders or OCI cardholder do not require a Visa in India. • You must be in possession of a current passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining beyond your arrival date in India. 3. Remaining Balance The remaining balance is to be paid in USD (US Dollars) or GBP (Sterling Pounds) cash in New Delhi upon arrival.     Report Code: 001_GBP_IIT_GEN_DAT_01_Ver 1_Dec 2010 River Ganga at a Glance: Identification of Issues and Priority Actions for Restoration Report Code: 001_GBP_IIT_GEN_DAT_01_Ver 1_Dec 2010 Preface In exercise of the powers conferred by sub‐sections (1) and (3) of Section 3 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986), the Central Government has constituted National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) as a planning, financing, monitoring and coordinating authority for strengthening the collective efforts of the Central and State Government for effective abatement of pollution and conservation of the river Ganga. One of the important functions of the NGRBA is to prepare and implement a Ganga River Basin: Environment Management Plan (GRB EMP). A Consortium of 7 Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) has been given the responsibility of preparing Ganga River Basin: Environment Management Plan (GRB EMP) by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), GOI, New Delhi. Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) has been signed between 7 IITs (Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee) and MoEF for this purpose on July 6, 2010. This report is one of the many reports prepared by IITs to describe the strategy, information, methodology, analysis and suggestions and recommendations in developing Ganga River Basin: Environment Management Plan (GRB EMP). The overall Frame Work for documentation of GRB EMP and Indexing of Reports is presented on the inside cover page. There are two aspects to the development of GRB EMP. The Char Dham Hindu Temple in The Woodlands will be a unique temple with all the four temples in one location, and the only one of its kind in the world. The design is modeled after the Char Dham temples (Char means four, and Dham means temple) located at four corners of India today – Jagannath Dham at Puri in the East, Dwarakanath Dham at Dwarka in the West, Badrinath Dham at Badrinath in the North, and Rameswaram Dham at Rameswaram in the South. Char Dhams are regarded as extremely sacred to all Hindus and pilgrimage to the Char Dhams at least once in a lifetime is a dream come true for Hindu devotees. It is further believed that Adi Shankaracharya purposefully established these four Dhams in four corners of India during the 8th century, in an attempt to revive the Hindu religion and unify all Hindus across the country. The construction of the Char Dham Hindu Temples in The Woodlands is just beginning. As part of this ceremony participants will receive bricks dedicated in their name to be built into the temples and be remembered through the life of the temple. Participating families will be provided with a set of four bricks – one for each Char Dham temple. The bricks will have the families’ names identified on them. Participants will join in prayers led by our priests and at the end of the ceremony, the bricks will be taken by each family and placed on the four temple ground locations where they will be used to construct the temples.

    Introduction In the Direction of Kedar When one had almost reached the Hindu shrine of Kedarnath, there used to be a point along the footpath following the Mandakini River where, in good weather, the top of the temple came into view against the backdrop of a bright, wide Himalayan panorama. In the related languages of Hindi and Garhwali, such vantage points bear the title of “Sight-of-God” (Hindi: devdarshini, deodekhni). Devdarshini is the point from which you are first able to glimpse the deity of a particular place, in this case Shiva in his Kedarnath form. Before June of 2013, devdarshini was located above the western bank of the Mandakini River, about two kilometers from the temple and twelve kilometers from the beginning of the footpath in the village of Gaurikund. The temple of Kedarnath lies on the valley floor at almost 3,600 meters above sea level, enfolded on three sides by mountains. Almost all travelers to Kedarnath, from perennial residents to first-time visitors to non-Indian regular visitors such as myself, used to stop at devdarshini to catch their breath, encounter the view, and take stock of the place where they were about to arrive. Devdarshini often evokes a strong response. I once spoke with a woman from the Indian state of Maharashtra who had come to Kedarnath seven times.1 She said that when she arrived at devdarshini she experienced what in Hindi is called sakshat darshan—a visual encounter with (or more technically a visual knowing of) the divine in its most true form.

    Gangotri - Gomukh - Tapovan Trek 2015 The Holy River Ganges is the most sacred river in the Hindu religion and its source at Gomukh at the Gangotri glacier. The glacier measures about 30 kms long. The Gangotri glacier is surrounded by peaks belonging to the Gangotri Group of mountains, including some that pose a challenge to mountaineers, such as Shivling, Thalay Sagar, Meru, and Bhagirathi III. The glacier follows a North Westerly route located below Chaukhamba Mountain, the highest peak of the group. Gaumukh is one of the holiest places for Hindu pilgrims who come here to witness the birth of Mother Ganga. The trek takes one to Gomukh (cows mouth), the mythological source of the River Ganges, which is at the snout of the Gangotri glacier.
