December 2012 Holiday Message from ERWAN PERHIRIN VICE PRESIDENT, ASIA PACIFIC As we approach the end of the year, I’d like to offer my thanks and great appreciation to all who made 2012 another very successful year for American Airlines in the Asia Pacific region, especially our customers and partners. American Airlines has always enjoyed deep support, but we are particularly grateful for your continued commitment and loyalty during a unique year in our company’s long history. At the close of my first year at the helm in APAC, I’m pleased with our achievements, globally and regionally. Our Q3 financial results showed we had the best unit revenue growth in the industry, which points to significant progress in our restructuring, and bodes well for the future. This year, we took delivery of 30 new aircraft as part of our goal to have the youngest, most fuel-efficient fleet among our main competitors in the United States, and will add a further 59 new aircraft to our fleet in 2013. Deliveries include the new A321 and 777-300ER (the first of which arrived in Dec 11th), featuring world class interiors and industry- leading products such as lie-flat business class seats with all-aisle access, international Wi-Fi, and Main Cabin Extra. Beyond fleet improvements, I’m happy to report that our network has also grown this year. Of interest to our APAC customers will be the new service between Incheon and Dallas, which we will operate with our business partner Japan Airlines beginning May, 2013. This new route highlights our growth regionally, and also shows the great strength of our business partnership with JAL. As American’s first service into Seoul, it will connect travelers from South Korea to more than 200 onward flights within North and LatinAmerica. Our Japanese customers with business interests in South America will enjoy more connections into that region. From both Dallas and Miami, we have increased flights into the key Brazilian business centers of Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro, and will add a non-stop service between Dallas and Lima that begins in April. Finally, there is continued growth on the alliance front with Malaysia Airlines’ entry into oneworld effective from February, followed by Sri Lankan Airlines and Qatar Airways later in 2013. Malaysia Airlines’ entry into the oneworld family will bolster your network options in Asia, and is the latest step on our path to establish oneworld firmly as the world’s premier airline alliance. For American Airlines AAdvantage members, it means you will now be able to earn and redeem rewards when flying on Malaysia Airlines. As the year comes to a close, I am thankful for the unwavering support of our customers and partners. I am also optimistic about our future in the region in 2013 and beyond. But for now, I wish you all a very happy and safe holiday season, spent in the company of family and friends. I know everybody at American Airlines is already looking forward to serving you and working with you again next year. Erwan Perhirin Vice President, Asia Pacific.
